Yay! This past weekend, I ran my first 5k. I have entered 5k's in the past and have completed them. I wasn't a runner at the time. I mostly walked them with a little bit of running. This was my first 5k to run the full thing and it was my first race that I ran the whole race. If you are a follower of my blog, you may recall that not too long ago, I ran my first 10k.{My First 10K...Yay!} ... Read More about Running My First 5k!

Strawberry Picking and Strawberry Sorbet
Earlier this week, we made a spur of the moment decision to turn a 'regular' school day into a field trip to go strawberry picking. Mr. T didn't get a call for a job that day, the weather was perfect and where we live strawberry season is nearing its end....so it all made sense to head out for a fun morning of strawberry picking. We were spoiled to have lived in Oregon for a few years ... Read More about Strawberry Picking and Strawberry Sorbet
Photography Lesson Homework: ISO
I have been slowly working my way through some lessons on using a digital slr camera posted on a very helpful blog. I am finally getting around to trying another lesson. This lesson was on using your ISO setting. The ISO is the camera's sensitivity to light. Aimee at It's Overflowing does a great job of explaining it in her post: Photography Friday 4 {ISO}. Do you have anything unrealistic that you aspire to be or do? I know I do all the time. I tend to think I can do so much more than is realistically human to do. I know I wrote a few weeks ago about my journey with running and how ultimately you have to run your way and your style. You can read that blog post here: A few thoughts on running. Initially, this post may seem to contradict that post ... Read More about Finding My Stride
Digital Delights: May Fun
With May just around the corner, I thought sharing some pages from May a few years ago would be fun. I've told you before that I usually make a calendar page for each month in our albums. For me, they are a fun way to keep up with the little details of life for which we don't have pictures. When my girls were little they were also a great way to keep up with all those ... Rocks and Minerals Unit
Snowflake just finished a unit on Rocks and Minerals. Our corresponding literature unit used the book Holes. We had two projects from our rocks and minerals unit I thought I would share with you. First, Snowflake got to make her own volcano and make it erupt. This was a simple, fun (and messy) project. She used a glass bottle with a narrow neck. Next, she ...
