Do you love pizza? It is a staple dinner at our house. We love pizza! It is my favorite dinner to make on a Friday night for our family. It is really easy to make a great pizza at home. Today, I”m going to show you how to make pizza at home so you get a delicious crisp crust pizza.

You ready for a yummy dinner? I am, so let’s get going.

To make your own crisp crust pizza you will need a few supplies or pieces of kitchen equipment. You will need a stoneware baking stone or pizza stone, rolling pin, pastry brush, and a pizza peel.

The secret of how to make pizza that has a crisp crust is to put your stoneware in the oven and preheat the oven to 450 degrees. You want to do this before you start anything else. That way the stone has had about 20-30 minutes to heat up in the oven before you start baking.

Lightly dust your counter with flour. Remove your dough from the refrigerator and place it on the counter for about 5 minutes.

I buy my dough for $1.29 at Trader Joe’s. Yes, I know I could make the dough, but this makes dinner easy for me. I like that!

Roll your dough out as far as it will go until it starts to bounce back. Set a 5 minute timer to allow the dough to relax.

After 5 minutes, your dough will easily roll out to the size you want. I roll my dough slightly larger than I want the finished size because when I move the dough to the pizza peel, it tends to shrink a little bit.

Sprinkle a small amount of corn meal on your pizza peel. Place your dough on the pizza peel. Make sure the dough can easily slide around on the peel or it will get stuck when you go to slide it into the oven and that is just a pain…trust me!

Use a fork to poke your dough. This will help the dough not create large bubbles during the baking process.

Lightly brush the dough with olive oil. You will probably use less than 1 tablespoon for the full dough.

Add your favorite pizza sauce using a spoon to make it easy to spread. Don’t add too much sauce as it will cause your toppings and cheese to slide right off. Yuck! I probably use about 1 to 2 tablespoons of sauce.

Add your toppings but NOT your cheese. A favorite in our house is macaroni and cheese pizza. We just use leftover macaroni and cheese on the pizza. Yum! The kids love it!

Slide your pizza from the pizza peel onto the hot stone in the oven. This is what will give you that crisp crust! Bake for 6 minutes at 450 degrees.

Remove the pizza from the oven on the stone. The dough should be slightly golden brown, but not fully browning.

Add your shredded cheese. We use about 1.5 to 2 cups of shredded mozzarella and 1 tablespoon of shredded Parmesan. Deliciousness! Bake for 3 minutes or until your pizza crust is golden and your cheese is melted. The cheese should be melted but not browning.

Yum! I’m getting hungry just looking at the pictures! The pizza pairs perfectly with a glass of wine. Perfect for a Friday night in my book!

What kind of stone? Is it a Pampered Chef one? If so I thought you couldn’t heat it first. I’m confused. Tell us more about the stone please.

Mine is a Pampered Chef stone. I bought my years ago (as in the 90’s). I don’t remember it having direction that you couldn’t heat it first, but they may have changed that now. I’ve never had a problem with mine, but of course you should follow manufacturer recommendations. If they don’t allow pre-heating, I’m sure you can find another brand that does. HTH 🙂

That pizza looks really scrumptious! I’m a vegan but I’m sure that by just changing to a dairy free cheese I’d be able to make it. Thanks for sharing!
