Today’s tale begins with a sweet little girl, my 7 year old, Pumpkin, who saved and saved and saved. She saved up all $110, with the help of a few gift cards from her birthday and Christmas, too. Pumpkin really wanted that American Girl Doll Spa Chair! I’m such a proud mommy. I wanted to add a little something to the fun of her new purchase. I searched American Girl Doll patterns and found the perfect pattern to compliment her spa chair.

Adorable and easy American Girl Doll Patterns to make a spa robe and head wrap. #AmericanGirlDoll #AGDoll #Sewing #Pattern #RealCoake

I found a pattern for a spa robe and head wrap. Aren’t they just adorable? They were so easy to make, too! Yay! In addition to giving you my tips and tricks for working with this pattern, I also have a giveaway for you today! This giveaway is a fun blog hop giveaway, which means I have an AG related giveaway for you, then you can hop on over to the next blog and enter their AG giveaway. There are a total of 12 other blogs to hop to and enter American Girl doll themed giveaways! Yay….happy squeal! American Girl Blog Hop Giveaway

The next hop location is Crazy Adventures in Parenting.

Before we get to the Giveaway, let me show you my tips and tricks for working with this pattern. The pattern is from 123 Mulberry Street and sold on Pixie Faire.

Pixie Faire is hosting the giveaway on my blog today! Yay! You have the chance to win a gift card toward your own doll patterns!

Getting back to the pattern at hand, the spa wrap pattern is $3.99 and is listed as an easy skill level. It really is an easy pattern to work with, though I do have a few tips for you as I found a few parts to be confusing or doing things in a different order than I typically do them.

I have this spa robe(and only this one) and head wrap for sale in my Etsy shop if you don’t want to make your own.

As I said, the pattern was very easy. I did find that the directions (at least how I read them) never mentioned sewing a hem to the front panels.

The directions aren’t numbered, so on page 2 of the directions for the towel wrap after it says to pin right sides together and sew, after that, I turned 1/2″ on the raw edges and sewed to hem the front of the wrap.

The following direction is to turn up a 1/4″ hem along the bottom edge and sew. I felt like the wrap was long enough and did 1/2″ hems just because they are easier to work with.

The pattern just mentions adding Velcro to close. I thought you might like to see what I did, so you have a little more infomation. I took a piece of 3/4″ Velcro and cut it to the length I wanted. I wanted a decent sized strip on the front to make it easy for little hands to fit and adjust the wrap on the doll. I cut the Velcro in 1/2 lengthwise and only used 1 portion of the cut Velcro to make the strip of Velcro narrow and not too bulky on the robe.

The head wrap totally stumped me. The pictures look so simple for making it. Maybe we picked too thick of a fleece, but when it came to the step to sew the ends together, I had no idea how I was going to get the bulk of it through my sewing machine.

Adorable and easy American Girl Doll Patterns to make a spa robe and head wrap. #AmericanGirlDoll #AGDoll #Sewing #Pattern #RealCoake

I found that you have to sew the wrong sides together then turn the wrap. I also broke two needles getting through all four layers of fleece. Eventually, I got it done. I don’t really have any great tips for you and my guess is that if you have a more modern machine than mine, it won’t be an issue. Mine just isn’t designed for this thickness.

The head wrap is designed to just slide over the dolls hair, not actually wrap all the hair up in like we might do with a towel.

Saige was the first doll to hit the spa. She found the spa robe to be quite comfy!

First up, Marie Grace needed to wash Saige’s hair.

To keep her hair clean during the rest of her spa day, the head wrap was just the thing. Saige thought it was cozy and soft.

Next up, it was time for Marie Grace to give Saige a pedicure. Doesn’t that foot bath look great!

Perfect spa day, complete with a magazine and everything!

You have such cute stuff on this site and so many ideas for dolls, I like that they dolls are sectioned off to what is applicable to what type of doll and I love the yoga mat (exercise mat) It is cute and such a neat idea so the doll can carry around her mat

I would have to say that I like the swim suit pattern the most. Mainly, because I know that “Sara” doesn’t have a swim suit!

Looked through the different patterns and they are all so cute, hard to choose just one, but I do love that spa wrap and towel. You did an amazing job.

I have made a few things from the Pixie Faire site. My next project from there I think will be one of the fancy dresses, like the Aspen Party Dress or the Snowdrop Dress.

I am getting the bald American Girl doll to match me as I go through Chemo. Maybe I can adapt this turban to a chemo turban for her.
