Can you believe that Halloween is just a few weeks away? Have you got your(or your child’s) Costume picked out and ready yet? We didn’t want to leave our dolls out of the Halloween fun, so I searched through my American Girl Doll clothes patterns and found I had a free pattern to make witch hats for our dolls.

Free American Girl Doll clothes pattern to make a cute and easy witch hat. I love sewing things like this for our dolls. So fun!

I decided to give the pattern a try. The result was a cute witch hat for our dolls. Perfect! Free American Girl Doll clothes pattern to make a cute and easy witch hat. #AGDoll #AmericanGirlDoll #Halloween #Sewing #RealCoake
I found a free pattern to make witch hats for our dolls last year, but never got around to making them. You can get your free pattern at You Can Make This. {Hocus Pocus Halloween}

The pattern was very well written and easy to follow and understand. It was also a quick and easy pattern…yay! My favorite kind of pattern.
As you can see in the picture above, I did have a little bit of a hard time getting the brim to line up with the main portion of the hat. I seemed to have some extra fabric on both hats that created a fold when I sewed the brim to the hat.
Since I am always making two of all of these things, I found that on the second hat, if I pulled the brim and the hat very taut before pinning it, it came out better and the fold was much smaller and less noticeable. I did still have a small fold in the brim of the hat.
If you have this same problem, I recommend that you try to get the fold in the brim to line up with the seam in the top portion of the hat. That way the fold will be to the back of the witch hat and therefore less noticeable. My first hat I didn’t do that, so there is a seam in the back and a fold in the brim on the side.

Julie and Josefina don’t seem to mind the folds in their hats at all! In fact, while they look adorable in the shirts my girls made for them, they seem to be ready for a bit more of a Halloween skirt to go with their shirts and hats….hmmm…. I just might have that coming up next week along with some cute trick or treat bags for them!

Are your dolls ready for Halloween? This cute hat might just be the thing for your dolls this Halloween. Next week, I’ve got more doll Halloween fun coming your way. So cute, I can’t wait to show you!

    I know some little people who would love witch hats. I’m sure I could adapt the pattern to fit other sized dolls or teddies.
