I’ve been having fun with my apothecary jars. They are so fun to fill for different seasons and holidays. Today, I’m showing you my spring apothecary jars.
I showed you the tutorial on how I made them a few months ago: Apothecary Jars {Tutorial}. Since then, I’ve had fun figuring out how to fill them for the holiday or season. I just love what I came up with for spring. We are enjoying looking at them and this time I used no food in them at all. Yay! No tempting M&M’s.
Once again, I used something different in each jar. I like variety…what can I say?
This is my girls’ favorite jar. I found this sweet little bird on sale a Michael’s. I also found the three pink/purple butterflies on sale there.
Instead of using only pom poms this time, I added some cute felt flowers I found at Target. They were part of a garland that was on clearance after Easter. I cut a few of them off and put them in the jar. I used the others in another way…I’ll show you in a minute.
Gerber daisy’s are one of my favorite flowers. I love them! I found this one bunch of flowers on sale at Michaels’ (are we catching a theme here?). I popped them off their stems and used them in the jar. You can only see three of the flowers, but I actually used some of them as fill in the center to keep the flowers at the outside of the jar in place.
I just love the little butterflies! Aren’t they so cute. I only used one inside the jars, so I decided to use the other butterflies on the ribbon outside the jars.
I just left the ribbon that I had on the jars from Easter. I thought the green worked well with the spring theme and saved me time and money. All in all, I only spent $10 to update my jars from Easter to spring. Not bad!
The remainder of the felt flower garland was added to the light fixture above our table. It is right above the jars. Fun spring flowers overhead…love it!
Do you do any decorating for spring? This is about it in our house. Our spring apothecary jars on our table…oh, I just remembered we also have the spring wreath. You know the one that was an Easter wreath, but has been converted to spring now. Love it…so simple!
Here are all the other apothecary jar posts I’ve done in the last year with the tutorial and other decorating ideas. Just click on a picture to be taken to that post.
These pictures turned out so lovely KC!! Love the perfectly white background! I know how to do that if you’re taking a picture and the base of the picture is white but not the background–how did you do it? But perhaps a magician never reveals her secrets 😉
Thank you, Gabby! I have really worked on my photography. No big secret at all. In fact, it is a really inexpensive and easy to store solution. I use a tri-fold poster board. I think it may have another name, but it is like what kids use for science fairs or other projects. Maybe they are called Tri-fold display boards. I have a white one. Makes great backgrounds and works perfectly with my white table. With my fairly new 50mm lens, you can’t see the corrugated grain that the board has because it is well blurred. Works fantastic for all kinds of photo shoots. When the ‘magician’ is a blogger, she always helps her fellow blogger, that’s just how we roll! 😉 Hope that helps you.
Take care,
KC
Very Cute KC! Pretty photos too! Found you on Frugal Days Sustainable Ways #68. I did some egg art with a butterfly theme. They were gifts to the kiddies as it is something that I do for them every year. You can check them out here if you like: https://niftythriftybits.blogspot.com/2013/04/decoupaged-and-glittered-eggs-egg-art.html
Thank you!

Cute! I need to get some apothecary jars I think, they look so fun to decorate. I only have a functional one in my bathroom that I use for q-tips:) Thanks for the photo tips (comment response above) too! I will have to try that.

They are fun to decorate with! You are welcome for the photo tips…maybe one day I will write a post about that because I have some other backdrops/backgrounds I use that were cheap and store easily.
Take care,
KC
This is such a lovely springy display. It would be such a joy to see this display every day. 🙂
Thanks, Libby! It is fun, though I need to find another place for it than our table. We can’t see each other through them at the table. My kids are too cute to not be able to see them, even at mealtime. 😉

Where did you get the apothecary jars and the stands?
I made them myself. Here is the post where I show you a tutorial on how to make them. Sorry, I forgot to put that in this post. https://realcreativerealorganized.com/2013/02/apothecary-jars-tutorial.html

Hello KC,
This is my first visit to your site and I am very impressed with your apothecary jars. I have a number of old finials and this would be a perfect project to upcycle them to. We would love to have you visit us at My personal accent.com to have a look around.
Thank you for your sweet comment. I bet your finials would be perfect for this. It sounds like it would be fun to find a project in which to use them, too.

So cute KC! I would love for you to share these with us at the Pretty Things party (live now!)

Thank you! You are right, it would be an easy project for a weekend.

First off these are so cheery. Second do you ever have a hard time keeping them out of your pretty decorations, like this? Christmas time is the only time I really decorate and I am glad when the season is over so I don’t have to say no anymore.
With Love,
Scary
Thank you! Not now I don’t. My kids are 11 and 6 and girls. When there was candy in them, it was a touch harder, but they also get in trouble if they take candy without asking. When they were younger, I never could have had this kind of thing out. It would have driven me and them nuts. Just wait a short time (which will feel like a long time) and before you know it, yours will be old enough it will be easier to have decoration around again.
Hope that helps and isn’t discouraging.
Take care,
KC
These are just absolutely adorable. I’m thinking I need some apothecary jars for my living room. Seriously, I love what you’ve done with these! 🙂
Thank you! I think you will have fun if you get or make some apothecary jars. They are fun to fill and decorate with.
KC
Fun updates! I have loved the other seasonal things you have put in these are just as adorable. So Springy.
Thank you so much! They are so fun to change up and add a touch of the season or holiday.
