I know it might seem a little bit early, but Cinco de Mayo is coming up and I thought this year it would be fun to try at least one new recipe. Maybe burgers seem like a non-traditional item for Cinco de Mayo, but I had been wanting to give these Taco burgers a try, so I decided they would be great for this year.
I don’t know about your house, but at my house, burgers pretty much always go over very well. They are a fairly quick and easy meal as well. Great things in my book.
These burgers have a little bit of a Mexican twist on them which makes them a good alternative for Cinco de Mayo or for any night. Of course if you want to go a much more traditional route for your Cinco de Mayo, you could give my Baked Chimichangas a try…they are amazing.
To make the taco burgers or sliders, you will mix up your meat of choice. We used ground beef this time but often use ground turkey. Mix the meat with salsa and taco seasoning (the recipe is at the bottom of this post). Remember when I showed you my recipe for taco seasoning? It comes in really handy with the recipe so you don’t have to buy a packet and waste half of it.
To add to the fun of serving the fries and the onion rings, I used a small basket and the cute new fry holder (affiliate link) which has the onion rings in it.
Once you cook up your burgers, place them on the bun with colby jack cheese. You could also use pepper jack. Top with guacamole and salsa to add some more Mexican flare to your burgers.
I’m telling you, the guacamole on top of the burger along with the seasoning inside the burger…such a tasty combination! I could eat these every time. Of course, I love guacamole, so put it on most anything and I’m good to go! 😉 Add a Strawberry margarita on the side and you are ready for a slightly non-traditional Cinco de Mayo dinner.

These look so good! Burgers are a hit at my house, too, and so are tacos, so the combo…we’d go crazy! Plus, the slider version is too cute.
