Hey, guess what? I got another Stitch Fix box recently. Woot, woot! I’ve got the full Stitch Fix Review for you today. I was excited to get another Fix as it had been a little bit. I don’t need nearly as many summer clothes as I do winter clothes, so I slowed down how often I am getting boxes. It is still a lot of fun getting a box. I always anticipate what will be in the box and wondering what I will like and what I will keep. I also love that I never go shopping anymore, so there is that fun as well. This box marks 2 years of me getting Stitch Fixes. I’ve been around a long time in Stitch Fix world. 🙂
Now before I get to the box, I want to tell you a little bit about Stitch Fix. In my opinion, Stitch Fix (affiliate links throughout this post) is perfect for busy moms (like me) or people who don’t like to shop (like me) ….Stitch Fix is a great option. I also think it is great for helping you find pieces for your wardrobe that you wouldn’t normally even look at in the store. Variety can be a great thing and Stitch Fix helps with that for sure!
You will want to start by signing up for Stitch Fix. When you do so, you will fill out a style survey. It will give your stylist ideas of what you like and don’t like as well as your sizing information. Then you need to sign up for your first fix and wait patiently until the box comes. If you are like me, the date of your next fix will be kind of like your due date when you were pregnant….you won’t forget it. At. All.
When your fix is sent, you will be charged a $20 styling fee. Once the box arrives, try on everything in the box within 3 days. I love that I can try things on anytime I want and anytime that is convenient for me.
Select what you plan to keep and what you plan to return. Go online to your Stitch Fix account and check out. Leave your stylist very specific information about what you liked and didn’t like. It will help future fixes get even better. I’ve also found that starting a specific Stitch Fix Pinterest board (like mine here) and ONLY pinning things I would actually wear and that I think would look good on me (versus inspiration and amazing things you like, but would look horrible on) to that board has helped. I leave notes in the pins as to what I like or don’t like in the pin.
As you check out, you will pay for whatever you are keeping. At that time, your $20 styling fee will be deducted from the total cost of the items you are keeping. If you hit the jackpot and you love everything in your box, you will get a 25% discount on everything in the box! Yay!
First up, I tried the Loveappella Liette Embroidery Detail Knit Top.
I paired that with the Level 99 Giovanni Ankle Straight Leg Jean.
Meh…I’m not loving it. I like the top. I had asked for things in this fix that would be good for a summer road trip. Hoping that we get to take one this summer. The shirt is perfect for that. Something simple and comfortable, but I generally wear shorts all summer and these pants were tighter than I would feel comfortable in…not to mention I would sweat to death in them over the summer.
Just because I liked the top and I wanted to see if it went well with other stuff, I gave it a try with another pair of Kut from Kloth capri jeans I have (from another fix). I like this look so much more. I won’t wear it in the summer. I will wear the shirt with shorts, but I love this look for the spring and fall. I’m sure, if you have read one of my Stitch Fix posts before, you may remember that I turn on the music and dance and try to have fun while photographing these Stitch Fix reviews. It is not my favorite thing to photograph myself, but it makes it a little more fun and helps me get better pics. This month, I jammed to Meghan Trainor’s new Thank You(affiliate link) album. Good stuff! Of course, I had to get a little silly and my daughter’s had to photobomb….they just can’t let their mom be the only one having fun. 😉
Next up, I tried the Market & Spruce Scott Crochet Detail Knit Top.
I paired that with the Dear John Finnegan Roll Cuff Chino Short.
I have another pair of the Dear John shorts (from this fix), so I was fairly certain I would like them. Since I live in shorts in the summer, it was a pretty easy choice on those. The shirt…I liked and my girls liked, but I felt like it made my shoulders look overly big and was a little “Meh” about it.
My stylist also sent this Market & Spruce Char Geo Print Maxi Skirt.
The skirt was to be paired with the navy top. I tried it two ways. I tried it with the shirt tucked in and the skirt near my natural waist, which is a little high.
I also tried it with the shirt out. I was more comfortable with the shirt out. Ultimately, this is nothing I would wear on a road trip. We are not fancy when we are driving 7,000 miles like last summer. We are comfy and cute which for me equals shorts and a shirt like the pink one in this box. We do a lot of hiking and being active, so this skirt, while cute, isn’t going to fit the bill for what I need. I contemplated keeping it for a work event I have coming up, but decided against it since I didn’t love the top.
Now, I know you were waiting for it…yep…the photo bombers were out in full force, even though this photo bomber should have been doing her homework. She does like Meghan Trainor, so the fact that I had her new album going, meant I was a huge distraction. 😀
Then they both really got going. Umm…I should probably already give up. And so I did.
I got us to pose like Charlie’s Angels…sort of….and my girls have no idea who Charlie’s Angels are, so I guess they just thought this was fun. 😉
Then I tried to get a good picture….ummm….nope. Oh well, can’t blame a mom for trying. Hehe! I love my girls! They add so much happiness and fun to my life.
Alright, before I get to this box, I want to offer those of you who use Stitch Fix or those who have thought of using it a little bit of a new perspective. I’ve heard many comments about how people, myself included, are disappointed that they don’t keep everything in a box or that their stylist isn’t getting every item just right in their box. I had the opportunity to talk with someone who was a stylist at Stitch Fix when I was at SNAP (a creative blog conference). She said something to me that really clicked and I wanted to share it with you. She said, “How often do you go into a store and grab 5 items off the racks and every single item is a slam dunk, perfect for you?” I NEVER thought of that before. Ummm…never! How about for you?
I think in some ways, we need to adjust our expectations of our Stitch Fix boxes. We can’t expect that every item in the box is going to be a perfect fit. There is no way they could do that time after time after time. We can’t do it when we shop for ourselves. I just loved that shift in perspective and thought you might enjoy hearing as well.
Here is what I did with this box:
- Loveappella Liette Embroidery Detail Knit Top – $48 – Kept
- Level 99 Giovanni Ankle Straight Leg Jean – $98 – Returned
- Market & Spruce Scott Crochet Detail Knit Top – $44 – Returned
- Dear John Finnegan Roll Cuff Chino Short – $58 – Kept
- Market & Spruce Char Geo Print Maxi Skirt – $58 – Returned
Now, if you want to see more photo bombing madness and silliness, you need to follow me on Instagram, because there is more and I share it there. 🙂
Love your photobombing girls and the pieces that you kept! Thanks so much for sharing your box with us! I especially liked that you shared the prices of each. I’ve often wondered how much each piece cost.
Thanks! I always want to know the prices as well, so I share them. Glad to know you like it. Have you tried Stitch Fix?
Not yet but I’ve always wanted to try a box or two!
You got some great pieces this month! I love the pictures with your girls! So adorable and fun!! I really love both tops!!
Elisabeth
Thanks! They have fun photo bombing me! I liked both tops as well, but the navy one, in person, made me feel a bit like a football player…so no thanks. 😉
That was a good response by the Stitch Fix representative. I think most people don’t keep everything because they can’t afford everything. I mean, who spends $250 or more a month on clothes? I have the opposite problem, as I struggle with returning anything and I usually keep everything. If I do return something, it’s because it doesn’t fit or I already own a similar item. Because of this, I only do Fix’s quarterly…one for every season.
Right, I liked talking with her. It really changed my perspective. Your strategy is a good one since you have a hard time returning things 🙂
I love those shorts! I definitely agree that all fo that was too fancy for (my kind of) road trip – but I LOVE the Charlie’s Angels picture! so cute.
Thanks so much! We have fun, my girls and I!
I have been considering stitch fix…I actually have my profile half way finished. 🙂
I thought the knit top (navy?black?) looked really nice, and did not make your shoulders like big at all. It was a really cute fit!
Thanks, Dara! Yeah the navy top did look good, but in person there was this detailing that made the shoulders a bit more like football shoulders. Though when I look at the pics, I kind of think maybe I should have kept it. You should totally try Stitch Fix. It can’t hurt and if you want some variety in your closet, it is a great way to do it.
The top you kept is so cute!
Thank you!
love the skirt. that one is my fave!
Thanks!
I thought the navy top and the chino shorts were so cute! I like the idea of Stitch Fix, but I LOVE shopping so I don’t think I would try this out yet. Very cool company though!
Thank you! Yeah, if you love shopping, it may not be as fun for you…though it is still very good at helping you add things to your wardrobe that you may not normally add, which is fun!
I think I want to try this service but I can never make myself hit the send button. lol I am so hard to fit that I can’t believe someone else could get it right. Cute tops, I did like them.
Thanks! You should totally give it a try. I feel like I’m hard to fit as well, especially with jeans, but overall they have done a great job fitting me.
