Stitch Fix #18 ~ A Stitch Fix Review

Hi! I’m back today with my latest Stitch Fix box and my Stitch Fix review.

While we were gone for a lot of the summer, I couldn’t get my usual Stitch Fixes. ::Sadness:: We got home on a Wednesday night and a fix arrived on Friday…I totally forgot that it was scheduled so closely together. Normally, I have those dates memorized, but this time it was a total surprise. I had managed, while on the road, to let my stylist know that I had found a cute new Betsey Johnson purse that I would love something styled around. She came through with something. Unfortunately, this box wasn’t necessarily a fun surprise. Boo! 

Just in case you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix (affiliate links throughout this post) and you are a busy mom (like me) or don’t like to shop (like me) or have a fashion addiction and have always secretly wanted your own stylist….Stitch Fix if for you. 

You will want to start by signing up for Stitch Fix by clicking here. When you do so, you will fill out a style survey. It will give your stylist ideas of what you like and don’t like as well as your sizing information. Then you need to sign up for your first fix and wait patiently until the box comes. If you are like me, the date of your next fix will be kind of like your due date when you were pregnant….you won’t forget it. At. All.

When your fix is sent, you will be charged a $20 styling fee. Once the box arrives, try on everything in the box within 3 days. I love that I can try things on anytime I want and anytime that is convenient for me.

Select what you plan to keep and what you plan to return. Go online to your Stitch Fix account and check out. Leave your stylist very specific information about what you liked and didn’t like. It will help future fixes get even better. I’ve also found that starting a specific Stitch Fix Pinterest board (like mine here) and ONLY pinning things I would actually wear and that I think would look good on me (versus inspiration and amazing things you like, but would look horrible on) to that board has helped. I leave notes in the pins as to what I like or don’t like in the pin.

As you check out, you will pay for whatever you are keeping. At that time, your $20 styling fee will be deducted from the total cost of the items you are keeping. If you hit the jackpot and you love everything in your box, you will get a 25% discount off everything in the box! Yay!

So let’s see what was in the box this month.

This is the Pixley Jimson Zipper Detail Top.

I paired the top with the Kut From The Kloth Goldie Flare Jean.

I thought the trend right now was more toward skinny jeans, though since I got my box, Stitch Fix posted this blog post about how wide legged pants are trending for fall 2015. Needless to say, even with 4″ heels and being 5’9″ tall, these pants were still a couple of inches too long…AND I’m not loving how they look on me either.

I love my Betsey Johnson bag! I picked it up at Nordstrom Rack in Portland. I had been eyeing it on Polyvore. The instant I saw it at Nordstrom rack, I knew she was mine. The stylist did a fine job of coming up with ideas for me and I really debated keeping the top, but ultimately I’m sick of how many sleeveless tops are in my wardrobe. While I’m fine wearing them, I would like to be a bit more lazy about shaving EVERY single day…if you know what I mean. LOL! I also felt like the style was just a bit off for me.

My stylist also sent the Pixley Abriella Waffle Knit Cardigan to be paired with the top and jeans.

The sweater was labeled as a medium, but it sure felt like a small. It was skin tight on my arms. No way I’m wearing that on a regular basis. I also wasn’t a huge fan of how it looked.

Next up was the Everly Sherm Dress.

I’m not sure at all why my stylist put this dress in my box. My style profile says how little I wear dresses, especially dressier dresses. The dress fit fine and I think looks good in the pictures. In real life, it felt like it made me look like I’m all boobs (sorry if that is too real for you). I do have a larger chest, but I don’t necessarily want to walk around feeling like all boobs. That and the fact that I really have nowhere to wear this dress meant it wasn’t a good fit for me.

This is the Ezra Hailey Printed dress.

Now, I just got through telling you how I rarely wear dresses….and yet, I LOVE this dress! It is me and my style. It is a super casual dress that I can wear with flip flops. It is a dress that felt like it would be perfect for a day when I want to just feel a little more dressed up, yet I’m doing my usual mom and business owner things. It was slightly tight across my chest…dumb double D’s. I kept it anyway, I don’t think anyone else can tell that it is a little bit tight, just I can feel it a little bit, but not enough to really bother me.

Now, you know I have some photo bomb pictures for you. My oldest daughter, Snowflake, continues her reign as our household professional photo bomber. My younger daughter tries…but she will need to take lessons from her older sister at being a bit more stealth. lol!

I love her so much…despite her photo bombing abilities! ♥ Maybe it would be better to punish her rather than hug her…nah!

Now, back to this fix. While this box was totally disappointing and felt a lot like they just threw in what they had left from the summer season with some jeans and a sweater, I still love Stitch Fix. I love not needing to go to the store. I love that they stretch me out of my comfort zone. There are items they have sent that I would NEVER have tried on in the store, but because they sent them to me I gave them a go. They are some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. I love that I now even have a wardrobe. Before Stitch Fix, my closet and accessories were in a pathetic state. Now I love getting dressed every day and I love that I have cute accessories and clothes. I may need to kick my husband out of our closet so I can have a little more room from my growing purse collection…on a side note one of my daughter’s suggested that I may have too many purses…is there such a thing? Umm…I think not…crazy girl! 😉 Anyway, this box was a dud, but I still love Stitch Fix and will continue with the service. How about you?
