I’ve got a super simple American Girl doll clothes pattern for you today. It makes the cutest skirts for the dolls and it is super quick and easy. Perfect!Such cute sewing. American Girl Doll Clothes pattern to make DIY reversible skirts for the dolls. Love how easy these are!My friend Chiriga and I have gotten together a few times to make clothes for our girl’s American Girl Dolls. These dolls are 18″, so these patterns will work for any 18″ doll.

She found this pattern on Pinterest and tried it first. Twirls for Girls Dolly Wrap Skirt. It is a free pattern, but you have to sign up for an account in order to get it. Also, when you download the pattern pay close attention because there are multiple files and I’ve heard from lots of you that it is confusing and easy to miss.Such cute sewing. American Girl Doll Clothes pattern to make DIY reversible skirts for the dolls. Love how easy these are!Chiriga made this skirt first. Cute!

The day she made this skirt, I was working on t-shirts for my girl’s dolls. The skirt looked so easy, I decided to give it a try.

This pattern is easy. The resulting skirt is super cute, too! Love that combination!Such cute sewing. American Girl Doll Clothes pattern to make DIY reversible skirts for the dolls. Love how easy these are!I have two tips for you if you decide to try this pattern.

  1. Follow the directions up to the point of turning the skirt. Prior to turning the skirt right side out, clip the corners (affiliate link) to remove extra fabric that will bulk up when you turn the skirt right side out.
  2. Take the time to press the seams prior to turning the skirt right side out.Such cute sewing. American Girl Doll Clothes pattern to make DIY reversible skirts for the dolls. Love how easy these are!The directions don’t say to do either of these things. When you look at the patterns that Snowflake wanted to combine in the picture above, you can see why I wanted to be careful. I didn’t want those opposing fabrics to be showing depending on which way the skirt was currently being worn.

By clipping the corners and pressing the seams both before and after turning the skirt, when the skirts are on the dolls, you can’t see the opposite fabric. That is exactly how I wanted it.Such cute sewing. American Girl Doll Clothes pattern to make DIY reversible skirts for the dolls. Love how easy these are!See how you can only see the outer fabric?Such cute sewing. American Girl Doll Clothes pattern to make DIY reversible skirts for the dolls. Love how easy these are!Without pressing and clipping, this wouldn’t happen as well.Such cute sewing. American Girl Doll Clothes pattern to make DIY reversible skirts for the dolls. Love how easy these are!The dolls look so cute in their new skirts and shirts. I’ve got another post for you on how two different t-shirt patterns I tried and which worked and which didn’t.Such cute sewing. American Girl Doll Clothes pattern to make DIY reversible skirts for the dolls. Love how easy these are!

While Chiriga and I were together we also made these cute American Girl Drawstring Dresses. They were fairly easy as well. It turned out to be fun to sew for the dolls, even though I wasn’t sure. I thought the sewing would be too challenging because it is so small, but it worked out great.

Hi! Well, that’s annoying! I just tried to get the pattern to see what’s going on. I have an account and when I sign in, it just keeps going in a loop and won’t let me actually download it. I’m sorry! It’s not my site and I can’t fix the issue. The only suggestion I can give you would be to message or email them and let them know. Hopefully, they will respond and get it fixed or email it to you.

I don’t think the web site is active anymore. Is it possible for you to email the pattern and instructions since she is no longer active online. Or if you have an email address I could try to request it . Either way I would appreciate very much.

I’m sorry, I can’t give away another person’s pattern. Hopefully, sometime soon, I’ll have a similar pattern for sale in my shop.

I cannot down load the wrap around shirt. Tried several times. Very frustrating.

Yes, Unfortunately, the site that was offering the skirt pattern has gone out of business. There’s nothing I can do about that. Sorry for your frustration.

Yes we have one about 1.5 hours from us. Thankfully easy enough to get to and have some fun occasionally, but not close enough to do serious damage. Enjoy your store and let me know if you make some, I would love to see pictures of your combinations!

I put it on another reply to a different comment, but I wanted to apologize for not getting your button on my blog posts this week. I’m not sure how that happened as I try to be really careful to get those added. Sorry about that.
    Have a great day!

The tips are most helpful. However, I cannot find the directions for the reversible wrap skirt, only the two pattern pieces. Can someone guide me?

When you downloaded the files from that site, there should have been 2 files. The one you have are the pattern pieces and is 2 pages long. There should be another file that you get/got that is 6 pages long and has the directions.

These are just adorable! I found your blog through Shabby Creek Cottage when I was linking some American Girl crocheted hats I made for my neices dolls. I’m going to share these patterns with my mom and see if we can make them some pretty skirts too – love the fabric!!

I am now following you and can’t wait to see what else you do!

The pattern is still there, but I still get asked this question all the time. Their site is not always the most user-friendly and you are not the first person to have some issues.

When you download the files, there are actually two files that you need to save to your computer. For some reason, it is really easy to miss. One page of the download is the pattern piece and the other file is the directions.

      Hope that helps,
      KC

    Hi!
I clicked on the link for the skirt pattern, I subscribed as you said but cannot find out how to download the pattern. When I click on download, it takes me to another link to join the pattern club. I am frustrated. Is there any way you can send me the pattern for the skirt?
    Thanks,
    Ines

Unfortunately, I can’t send you the pattern as it’s not mine and it would be breaking ethics to send it to you. I’d suggest you contact their customer support. I’m really sorry for the trouble and wish I could help more.

Lori – Unfortunately, it looks like the site is down completely. I’m slowly working on making my own pattern so I can offer it to people instead. I’m guessing that won’t help you right now, but hopefully, I’ll be able to offer it in my Etsy shop soon.

Hi Jackie! The pattern was never on my site. There is a link to another site that offers the pattern. However, that site seems to have gone out of business and so the pattern is no longer available. I’m working on creating the pattern. Hopefully, in the next week or 2, I’ll have it up for sale in my shop. It has taken me a lot longer than anticipated to create the pattern as it is the first time I’ve ever created a pattern before. Sorry for the inconvenience. Check back if you’d like to get the pattern.
