OMG! I’m so excited to share today’s post with you! Super cute doll accessories! For Pumpkin’s recent Felicity American Girl Party I made these cups for the girl’s dolls. We couldn’t very well have food and drink for the girls and not have something for their doll, now could we? I didn’t want to spend a fortune to buy enough of the sets American Girl sells or other brands sell. Instead, I came up with a plan and made my own doll accessories for each of the girls. While I was at it, I used a cute idea for the girls cups as well. Can’t wait to show you…let’s get moving…

Aren’t they so stinking cute! They sure added to the cuteness factor at the party. Next week, I’ll show you some things I made to add even more to the cuteness factor of this party. For now, let me show you how I made these and at the end of the post, I’ll show you what I did for the girls cups as well. Cute, cute, cute!

Here is part of what you will need to make your own doll drinking cups and cute cups for the girls as well. The forks were a find when we were walking through Target one day. I saw them, they are for appetizers, but they are the perfect size for a doll. Another cuteness factor. Wait until you see it all put together.

I knew I wanted to make cups for the dolls, but I had no idea what I was going to use to make them. Our whole family wandered through Micheal’s and Target looking for ideas. Almost at the end of our wander through Target, Mr. T spotted the box of bubbles. They were reasonably priced. I knew they would need some modifying, but I was OK with that. I’m still a bit surprised that Mr. T came up with the winning idea! Way to go!

The bubbles containers don’t look a lot like a cup and the colors weren’t that great. I knew the purple would work, but I really didn’t want to use the other colors. I tried painting them, but the paint came off way too easily to give to children. I didn’t want to buy a paint for plastic as I wanted to use what I had on hand at this point, so it was time for plan B.

Before I figured out how to make the colors work, I removed the lids from the bubble bottles. Then I cut the tops down using a utility knife. The bottle in the middle is how they came in the package, minus the lid. To the right and left are different cuts I tried. Trying to get them to look the most like a cup. Just be very careful when cutting through the plastic. As you are cutting a circular surface, it would be very easy for the knife to slip and get you instead of the bottle.

After voting amongst our family, which didn’t help me decide in the slightest, I decided I liked this cut on the bottles. In the picture of the 3 bottles, this was the cut on the right. I also decided I could go with the purple and the yellow bottles and that the yellow should go OK with the party color theme.

Next up, the dolls needed a straw. I used the flexible straws I had bought for the girls. I cut them as you can see above. It was just a matter of figuring out how long the straw needed to be and cutting with a regular pair of scissors. I’m showing it so you this way, so you can see the lengths of the original and cut straws. I’m hoping it will make it easier for you to cut yours as well.

Can you see the cuteness factor coming to life? They still needed something though and as the paint had been a total fail, I was on to try something else. I decided to hot glue a small piece of the ribbon that I used on the party favor bags I made around each the bottles. It would help them match the party and add interest and cuteness. But, I ran out of the ribbon before I finished all of the bottles….what to do?….what to do?

Trying to use what I had on hand and not spend any more money, I decided to use some of my baker’s twine stash I got from Pick Your Plum(affiliate link)…love their stuff. I really wanted to get some of the paper straws they have sometimes, but I needed to stick to a tight budget…so no cute paper straws. Anyway, the baker’s twine looked cute and worked to add something to the bottles that I didn’t have enough ribbon for.

Aren’t they so cute! The girls LOVED them and loved that we had things for their dolls. Of course they got to take home the cup, fork, and the napkin I made for each doll. I’m going to show you how I made those next week, so tune in for even more cuteness!

I couldn’t leave the big girls out and give them boring cups. I also wanted to use re-usable cups because it is my preference and it is what fits with the colonial theme for Felicity. I had seen and pinned this idea to use mason jars with cupcake liners at the top as a lid at Setting the Mood (Parasols & Petticoats). Cuteness! I found my cupcake liners at Michael’s.
The cups matched the theme quite well and everyone who came commented about them. Both the kids and the adults. The kids seemed to drink a bit more than normal, so be forewarned that apparently cute cups make kids drink more. lol!

The only “problem,” which it really isn’t, is that you have to take the lids and liners off to fill the glasses. I didn’t think it was a big deal, but it does make things a little slower. Just so you know.
Oh, by the way, I also used these liners to bake the cupcakes in as well. So I got double the money out of them.

Cuteness ready for cute girls and dolls to come enjoy! Next week, I’ll be back with another post showing you how I made the little napkins. Do you see them next to the cups? OMG, having a doll themed party is a little bit too much fun! It was fun coming up with all these cute doll accessories for the dolls and their girls.
