I’ve got such a great Mother’s Day gift basket idea for you today! I know most moms I know are super hard working and don’t take much time for themselves. I have the perfect gift idea for the hardworking mom in your life. It is a little something to totally pamper her and let her take some much needed time for herself. Love it!
I love gift baskets. They are generally easy to put together and I love how easy they are to personalize. I’ve got great ideas for your own DIY gift basket today. Just make sure to vary things in your basket keeping the person you are giving your gift basket in mind.
I had so much fun shopping for this gift basket! It started with Chesapeake Bay Candle sending me an awesome box of candles and sponsoring this post.
I was inspired to create relaxation for mom in a basket. It is always hard to find the time and do something to relax or to take a break. I used to be so much better at getting away and getting some time by myself, but as things do with a family, life has changed a bit and I rarely get much needed ‘me’ time. This gift basket is created with some much needed ‘me’ time in mind since I know most moms are in the same boat.
The picture above shows everything that I added to my gift basket. Let me show you what I did step by step.
I found this metal basket on clearance in the bathroom department at one of my favorite stores. It is a perfect vessel for this gift basket. It can store everything in a pretty way and is meant for the bathroom area.
Take your ribbon and wind it in and out of the metal basket.
Use a small piece of tape to hold the ribbon in place in the back of the basket.
Now it is time to layer in your gift items.
It took me a little bit of trial and error to get an arrangement I liked that I thought looked good.
I ended up with this side of the basket with bath salts, a mask, some face polishing washcloths, bath bombs and a big fluffy bath puff.
The bath bombs I got came in a bag and were individually wrapped, which is perfect for taking them out of the bag and showing them off versus another bag in the gift basket. It just looks prettier to me.
There is nothing better for relaxation than some great candles. I’ve had an obsession with candles for as long as I can remember. There is just something special about lighting a candle and smelling the beautiful scent. It is always very relaxing to me.
I knew some great candles had to be included in this Mother’s day pampering gift basket.
I love soy candles for the environmental benefits and the candles Chesapeake Bay Candle makes are a great soy blend that gives the benefits of soy with a blend that burns beautifully. These are from the Heritage Collection. I love the frosted glass and wood of the Driftwood & Amber Large Jar Candle. They are so pretty and these have fragrances inspired by local botanicals and fruit and they use essential oils. They smell SO good!
I love the galvanized look of the Wild Lemongrass double wick tin candle. I also love that the candles are designed and poured here in the US!
I added the candles on the opposite end of the basket with the Wild Lemongrass on top of the fluffy bath puff.
There are so many other ideas you can add to this gift basket. It pairs perfectly with a bottle of wine. You could also add a cute wine glass and/or some chocolate. Adding other spa items works really well. Lotion or sugar scrubs are some other great additions. Just think about what your mother would enjoy and add those things.
The only limit is what will fit in your basket as well as your budget. You can adjust things accordingly.
In the end, my gift basket started with some great candles. Then I layered in other items to create a relaxing experience for a mom. I know I would love to receive a gift like this, especially if it was paired with a clean tub and a free afternoon. Perfection!

Thank you! Candles always make a gift fun and special…at least to me. π
One year for Mother’s Day, I gave my mother-in-law a reusable Grandma mug because she loves drinking cucumber water throughout the day, a blinged-out custom shirt with her favorite sports team, and a custom made necklace that had a pendant with all of the names of her kids and grandkids. She loved it!
Those sounds like great gifts! Great ideas.
