Digital Delights: Strawberry Picking

Almost every year we go strawberry picking. It is one of our many outing we love to do as a family. Of course since I like scrapbooking, I look forward to scrapbooking the pictures from our adventure.

Tip: My tip for you today is simple reminder of what you likely learned in an art class somewhere in your education. It is super effective. Pick a color that is opposite on the color wheel(AKA a complementary color) to that in your picture. Doing so will make the colors in your picture ‘pop’ more and/or make them seem more intense. I did this will the green in the pictures on the first page, I made those pictures stand out more by using the red background.

For the second page, I chose a analogous color or a color next to the main color in the picture (i.e., I chose a different shade of green). By doing this I gave the page a little more serene look and made it a little peaceful for the eye. I added the small bit of the complementary color not only to tie the two pages together but to add just a bit of visual interest to an otherwise very simple page.

Using the color wheel can really help enhance your scrapbook pages.

What I used:
  • Creative Memories Storybook Software 4.0
  • Queen of Quirk – Give Freely – Free Kit! (The red paper on both pages)
  • Erica Made – Christmas Treasures Mini Kit – Free Kit! (The striped paper on page 1)
  • Erica Made – Sublime Mini Kit – ?Free Kit? It says it is only free until 2010, but I tried it and it looked like it would still work. (the mint green patterned paper on both pages)
Fonts used:
Strawberry Swirl Delight
Pea Annie

It was so much fun. That is so neat that you have memories of enjoying strawberry picking. Having grown up in the desert, there was no strawberry picking. I have hoped I am not torturing my children..haha! Thanks for your comments!

Thanks so much. I still do ‘traditional’ albums as well as digital. It is still fun to use real paper and create.

Hi!  I haven’t tried digital scrapbooking.  I made a lot of the old fashioned scrapbooks when my children were little.  Your pages are so pretty!  Thanks for stopping by!
