Take Me Out to the Ball Game: Baseball Birthday Card

I’m back with another simple birthday card. My nephew had a birthday a while back. He loves baseball, so I thought a baseball card would be great for him.

This card was quite simple. I used my Cricutand the Creative Memories This and That cartridge. I cut out the baseball and the stars from the This and That Cartridge. It has been discontinued, so I bet you could use this sports maniacartridge instead.

For the inside of the card, I did the same thing I did for the Cat Birthday Card. I cut out the wishes, but used the negative image rather than gluing each letter. I then backed the word with a blue star paper. Again this is from the This and That cartridge. I really wish they hadn’t discontinued it. It has a lot of cute handy things on it.
As you can see above, I used foam squares to raise the baseball off the paper and make it stand out a bit.

It was an simple, fast card to make. Happy Birthday to my Nephew!

I only wish I understood why my Cricut seems to have a hard time with the more delicate cuts. I know I am not doing something right or that I need a new blade, but I am not sure which. I had wanted to add something else to the card, but I couldn’t get it to cut without ripping at least part of the paper. Any ideas? I would love some help.

Thanks

More to Enjoy! 😍

Great birthday card. As far as your cricut, I would try a new blade if you have been using your current for a lot of projects. Another solution is to slow down the cut speed for very small/delicate cuts – this will help with the tearing of the paper issues. Good luck!

Thank you! Yes, I think I need to try a new blade. I just wanted to be sure before I spent the money on it. I will also try the slowing the blade down. I have noticed that the setting for the lightweight paper on mine is a slower blade, so I bet that would help. Thanks so much for the tips. I really appreciate them!
