Stitch Fix #15 ~ A Stitch Fix Review

Who wants to see what was in the box this month? I’ve got my 15th Stitch Fix review for you today.

I’ll give you a little hint…this box was fun! I asked my stylist to send me lots of shorts this month. Last summer on our epic road trip(part 1 and part 2), my shorts took a big hit. With the weather getting warmer, I’m in desperate need for shorts. This month, I received 3 pairs of shorts, 1 top, and 1 pair of earrings. 

If you are not familiar with Stitch Fix it is a personal styling service. You sign up (Affliate links throughout this post) and fill out a style profile which includes your likes and dislikes as well as your sizes and how adventurous you want to be with your fixes. You also will set your budget range for your fixes.

Once your stylist sends your box, which will contain 5 items, your credit card will be charged $20. Your box will arrive and joy will exude from your whole being….because it is fun and a big surprise! Try on your items at your convenience, like at midnight when the house is quiet and the kids are asleep.

Within 3 days you check out on the Stitch Fix site. Give them as much feedback as you can as to what you liked and didn’t like about each item. It will help your fixes get better over time. I also recommend starting a Pinterest fashion board (you can see mine here) where you pin things you like and will actually wear. Be specific about what you like so your stylist can learn. There is a place in the sign up process that you can give them the link to this board.

Once you check out, your credit card will be charged for any items you keep. As long as you keep one item from your box you don’t end up paying the styling fee. That fee that you already paid will be deducted from the total for the items you are keeping. The items you are not keeping are sent back in a postage paid envelope.

If you decide to keep all 5 items, you will receive a 25% discount!

I will admit that my journey with Stitch Fix has been a bit up and down, as you may have read in my other Stitch Fix posts. I have kept using them because I really dislike shopping. While I have been frustrated with a few things, I really love the steady stream of new clothing and accessories into my wardrobe. That is something that would never happen for me otherwise.

So, now that you know all about Stitch Fix, let’s have a look at what was in my 15th fix.

This is the INER Jalisco Crochet Yoke Top. Cuteness!

Short shorts…oh my! The Mavi Zack Printed Denim Shorts are super cute as well. Yet, I am 43 and not sure that short shorts are the best thing for this mom who has cellulite and has had 2 children.

Yet, I love them on. I NEVER would have thought I would wear short shorts or even like these on. Truthfully, when I pulled them out of the box, my first thought was, “OMG, I have to wear these and photograph them for the blog….ummm, I don’t think so!”

Now, they are a bit shorter than I feel really comfortable in. My stylist suggested that I could roll the cuffs down to add some length. As the cuffs were sewn in, I didn’t want to do that and ruin the shorts in case I wanted to return them.

I love the top! So cute and perfect for hot summers. The cute little bag is not from Stitch Fix, it is from my stash. 🙂

Once again, I’m showing you the butt shot. Yep…I totally thought I wasn’t going to show you any of these this month, but instead I’ve got three for you. Oy Vey! Not sure if I want to hide or just admit that this is something we all check out when we are trying on clothes.

Next up, I tried the Skies are Blue Alilah Printed short. This is another one that I thought I wouldn’t like, but I’m always willing to try something on. I generally avoid elastic waists…they kind of remind me of grandma pants…but anyway. I tried them on. 

I also got the Zad Zoe Open Shape Metal Earrings. 

I kept on the INER top with these shorts. I absolutely LOVE these shorts. They look so cute on and I think they are very flattering. I love that they are a bit dressier of a short than I usually wear, which will be a nice addition to my wardrobe.

Last up are the Dear John Finnegan Roll Cuff Chino Shorts. All of the shorts are shorter shorts than I ever would have pulled in the store to try. I learned I can pull off a shorter short…but I’m not comfortable in the super short shorts like the Mavi (the first pair). I think they look fine…I just see my cellulite and feel a little uncomfortable and sometimes wonder if it is appropriate for a 43-year-old.

Anyway…moving on.

I put on a different shirt for you with these shorts. It is another shirt with my blog logo that my bestie made for me (you can see a close up of it in this post on Instagram…it is so cute and glittery). Not sure that it was the best choice for these shorts, but it works for a casual look.

Once again, I was pleasantly surprise by these shorts with how they look on. Both the Mavi and these Dear John shorts are a size 30, which shocks me that I can fit a 30. I think back in high school I was a 29 or 30 in Guess jeans (which were such the rage back in the day). I guess I’m doing OK with my weight even though I feel like I struggle with it.

“Hey!”

This is how I looked when my child photobombed me for the 700th time! What was funny about this shot is that the shot just prior was the one like when my mom (and probably your mom ) would be yelling at you and the phone would ring and they answer with this sickningly sweet, “Hello.” Remember that? Well I did that with the prior shot, just a smile rather than a Hello…and cracked myself up with my big cheesey smile. I decided to take the real pic of how I felt at my child interrupting so many times. This is my, “Oh it’s on kid” face. LOL!

I dare you to look at this picture and not laugh or at least smile. Could you do it? I can’t.

I pretty much had two kids staring at my while photographing myself…let me tell you that is super comfortable and fun….NOT! I am not super comfortable with the whole photographing myself thing and add two kids staring at me and photoboming me…well at some point I’m going to snap and then I’m going to find a way to make it fun. I don’t even remember what was happening here, but clearly someone (or maybe me) made me laugh.

Now this is just me….being me. I like this pic. It shows you me as me with a little pep and a little life and silliness behind those eyes. It also shows you that I shoot tethered and that…wait for it….I use a flash. ::gasp:: The photography purist have now left my blog and will never come back. Yes. I use an external flash(this is an affiliate link to the newer version of my flash…which I LOVE). It is my photography dirty little secret. I need a flash to get decent light where I live and I haven’t figured out fully shooting in manual to get better light without it. Oh well. There is always more to learn and I will get there. I also love that you can see the sheet that I hung to make a backdrop and my ‘real’ life peeking behind. This is me folks. 🙂

Back to the Stitch Fix – Here is what was in the box and what I did with it:

• Mavi Zack Printed Denim Short – $78 – Kept (I really thought about these a lot and thought I was going to return them. I really liked them though, so I ended up cutting the cuff out and rolling them down. I love them!)

• Zad Zoe Open Shape Metal Earrings – $28 – Kept
• Dear John Finnegan Roll Cuff Chino Short – $48 – Kept

Two of the items, the Mavi shorts and the Zad earrings, I contemplated sending back. With my 25% discount and a referral bonus, I felt OK spending $78 on the shorts(because they didn’t end up being that much). I really like them and I’m happy I kept them.
