I participated in an influencer activation program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Starbucks. I received a promotional item and a gift card to facilitate my review. As always, all opinions and experiences are 100% my own.
My friends who know we well or even well-ish, know that I have a thing for Starbucks and a thing for moving back home or at least closer to my family. Sometimes, the desire to move home or at least get to be with my family is fine and other times it is just overwhelming. For me right now, I needed some time with family and some time to reconnect…even if we are all a little nuts and drive each other nuts. π
With the untimely and tragic death of my Aunt, many of you know of the hard winter my family has had emotionally, not to mention the coldness of this winter and the lack of sun. I had really been longing for home, for family time and for some fantastic Arizona sun.
My mom celebrated her 70th birthday last weekend (don’t tell anyone because she doesn’t like me announcing that…wink, wink). She was planning an upcoming visit to see my family. I asked her if she would like to use that same money and have us come visit in Arizona. I am so glad and grateful that she and my Dad thought that was a great idea!
We arrived here on Tuesday. Oh, I needed this badly. For me, these mountains, they are great therapy. I love getting out and going for a hike. Being in the middle of the city, but totally out in nature (yet only a few minute from Starbucks!). The mountains Β just soothe me. I know that might sound strange, but it is true for me.
I love the vast expanse you can see here in Arizona and all the mountains. It is so pretty and feels so freeing. In addition to needing my hiking, mountain and family time. Let me tell you all, the time change has been hard for some reason this time. Getting up at 5am just so does not suit me or my girls very well.
Starbucks is the perfect pick me up and a great place to sit and have a chat.
Since we are here to celebrate my Mom’s 70th and Mother’s Day, I decided to take my Mom to Starbucks. I was able to treat her to her favorite tea along with a little sweet treat. I was able to get my favorite tea as well. Perfect afternoon pick me up. Whether at home or on the road, I pretty much always have morning and afternoon tea. I think my Mom looks quite happy with my afternoon idea!
It was so nice to get to treat my mom, add a little something extra to the Mother’s Day and birthday celebration while we are here. She really appreciated it and appreciated that I thought of doing something with just her.
Right now, Starbucks has a fantastic new tea. They teamed up with Teavana and Oprah and created the Oprah Chai Tea Latte. It is a bit more bold and spicy than the traditional Starbucks Chai Tea Latte. For every Teavana Oprah Chai that is sold, they will be making a donation to the Oprah’s Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation. You can learn more at Steep Your Soul. Not only did I get to reconnect with my mom and get my afternoon pick me up, but I also got to help educate girls! Sweet …love the combo!
If you need some time reconnecting with your mom, on Mother’s Day Starbucks in offering a buy one get one free on the Teavana Oprah Chai Tea Lattes! You can go enjoy a great tea and treat your mom as well! Of course, you will then also get to spend some quality time with your mom. I think we can safely call that a win win for everyone!
After chatting for a little bit with my mom, these two cuties crashed our party. It seems that my Mom (or Momo as my kids call her), didn’t mind one bit that two of her silly grandgirls crashed the party. π
I’m totally loving the Oprah quotes on the Starbucks sleeves. They are such great quotes. I instagramed another one a day or two ago. So, I will leave you with this fantastic quote.
Try to find some time this Mother’s Day weekend to reconnect with a special woman in your life, whether it is your Mom or someone else. Enjoy the simple moments because you just never know.
More For You:
Aww, I’m so sorry to hear about the death of your aunt! π
But I am glad you’ve gotten to spend some special time with your mom. My mom and I like to go to Starbucks together too!
Thanks, Amy. It was great to have some time with my Mom and Starbucks is always a great treat! Kind of sad to have made it back home instead of my hometown. ::sigh:: Maybe someday I will be in the same city as my family and be able to take them to Starbucks anytime. Hope you had a great weekend.
This is a great post, I love it. By the way You have such a nice looking family. Mr T

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m glad you had some time to connect with your Mom though. That is so sweet.
Thank you, Beverly. It was great to have time with my mom and my whole family. So glad we got to share our time at Starbucks. Now we are back to being across the country from each other. π Hope you have a great weekend.
Hi Carol!!
I told her about your comment. I took pics of the house next to yours as well. I keep meaning to message them to you, but obviously that isn’t going to well. I will try to get them to you this week.
