I’ve told you about the family fun we have each year on New Year’s and last week I showed you the cute glasses I made for our celebration this year. I’ve struggled with drink recipes to add to the fun for a year or two now. My girls don’t seem to like sparkling apple cider or any of the other ‘special’ drinks we have tried. This year I decided I would make up my own drink for our family New Year’s celebration! That way I know they will like it.
My husband thought I was crazy to make up my own drink recipe…but I’ve been called crazy many times before, so that didn’t stop me! 😉 I combined a few things I know my girls like and found a drink that our whole family really enjoys! Yay!
Start with a pretty glass! That is important, especially for special times like New Year’s. These glasses were really easy to make and personalize.
Add some cut up frozen strawberries (or other fruit your family likes).
Add about 4 to 6 ounces of pink lemonade. You can easily customize this to whatever juice is a family favorite.
Finally, add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream to the top of your drink. I used the same small scoop (affiliate link) I use to make cookies. Now enjoy! Easy and delicious…gotta love that!
I gave this drink to all my family and everyone declared it delicious. Thank goodness! Now we have a special drink to enjoy on New Year’s eve that everyone will actually drink.
I haven’t tried it, but I think you could add some kind of sparkling wine or champagne to this drink to make an adult version. I will probably try that with mine on New Year’s.
Do your kids like sparkling cider and other ‘special drinks’? Or are they like mine and need a drink custom-made for them?
Come on by my Facebook page and share how you make New Year’s fun for you and your family. Happy New Year’s to you and yours!
More fun, just for you!
Oh man…and just when I thought I was good with drinks for NYE…this may have to happen. Thanks for the recipe! My boys would LOVE this drink. Visiting from Tip Junkie.
Kat, I hope you had fun celebrating the New Year’s! Hopefully if you gave it a try, your boys really enjoyed it. My girls just loved it and actually drank it all…Yay!
