Today is the last day of my Real Summer of Fun series. I’m sad to see the series go…mostly because that means that summer is getting close to ending. Instead of focusing on that, how about some more fun in the kitchen with your kiddos for our last post in this series? Sounds deliciously fun to me, especially when you see the S’mores parfait recipe I’ve got for you today.
I think we only need to look at the picture to know this is one dessert we want to make AND that it is going to be totally delicious.
I also know that my daughters think it looks amazing and they are eager to make some when we get home from our road trip.
Cooking with the kids can be such a great activity any time of the year, but since we have more time in the summer, it is particularly great then. Today, Ashley from Simply Designing is here to share this delicious and very kid friendly recipe.
This is only one idea in my series of Real Summer of Fun activities. The activities are designed to be simple and inexpensive things we can do with our kids to make this a summer of real fun for everyone.
Hi, I’m Ashley from Simply Designing and I am really excited to be here today! I love sharing crafts, recipes and DIY projects on my blog! I also have two kiddos that love to help me with projects. Especially during the summer time, I try to involve them in as many craft and cooking projects as possible! Many of which I don’t blog about, we just do for fun. But today I am sharing a really fun and tasty, simple S’more Parfait Recipe that is a perfect dessert for your little ones to help you with!
My daughter (who is 8 years old) was able to make this entire dessert from start to finish all by herself! My 5-year-old needs a little help in the beginning but he can assemble parfaits like a pro!
I know it is often hard to involve kids in the kitchen because it can be messy and it can take twice as long sometimes. But my goal is to raise children who are self-sufficient and part of that is teaching them how to cook, clean and do laundry! So sometimes a little extra mess is worth the end result! These glasses (affiliate link) work perfectly for these parfaits.
Plus, these S’more Parfaits are stinkin’ delicious!!! YUM!
And they were so simple to make, I even videotaped my daughter putting them together for you! In reality, they took about 14 minutes for her to make start to finish so it is a fairly quick project. But don’t worry, this video is LESS THEN 1 MINUTE! So it is perfect to quickly see how it’s done!
Whenever I let my children help in the kitchen they always feel so accomplished! They also work on math skills and improve fine motor skills without even knowing it!
