Did you know Sunday was Parent’s Day? I’m guessing no. Me either, I had never heard of it. But my kids had heard of it. It was listed on two of their calendars.
Mr T.3(my husband’s alias for this blog) and I woke around 9 am to a quiet house. Not that unusual since our kids generally sleep until 8 and often sleep in until 9 am. Apparently they were just really quiet this Sunday. Mr T.3 went downstairs to get a great surprise. I usually sleep in on Sunday’s so I stayed in bed. The girls had gotten up at 6:40 to prepare a special parent’s day for us. Soon after Mr T.3 went downstairs(they gave him breakfast and got him with confetti), I got 2 cuties coming bringing me breakfast in bed and yelling, “Happy Parent’s Day!” To which I replied, “Happy what?” Along with a whole discussion about what is Parent’s day and Mr T.3, “Have you ever heard of it?,” to the kids, “Where did you hear about this?,” etc. Probably not the reaction they were looking for…oops.
Anyway, once I headed downstairs they greeted me with confetti, which they had spent time cutting from construction paper (affiliate link). They had spent hours making signs and taping them all over the house. All day, they both kept saying “Happy Parent’s Day!” I know Snowflake was the main instigator of this surprise as she is the only official reader and would notice something like this on a calendar. What a sweetie! Sweet little Pumpkin helped out with everything. Don’t I have 2 great girls?!….at least until Monday when the crankiness of getting up so early hit(just part of the roller coaster ride of parenting)…haha…Happy Parent’s Day!

Happy Parent’s Day to you as well! Now that you know there is one, talk it up. Maybe we can start a revolution, like creating the next Valentine’s Day! OK, probably not, but for those of us in the trenches of parenting, it sounds nice doesn’t it? Of course, it would likely then just turn into one more thing for us to do and organize…so I’ll just take my super nice gift this year, share it with you and forget the revolution. 😉

There is always next year Dad! You can wait and hope I remember. 🙂
I LOVE IT!! I am sorry that I am just reading this for the 1st time but it is sooo cute. Spelling is not my DD’s strong suit either so Snowflake’s sign… “You are the Beast!” was great and gave me a highly relatable chuckle… and if you kept it up until Monday it might have been a-pro-po considering all the sleep you missed out on the day before 🙂 ! (Mama needs her sleep!)
Keep up the great work K! It’s fun to get to know your family like this :).
Thanks Chiriga! Fun that you are checking out the blog. Looking forward to seeing you all and starting back at co-op in a few weeks!
