First Day of Our 2011-2012 School Year!

Today is the end of our break and the start of our new school year! (I wrote this on July 11th, but never uploaded the photos and therefore didn’t publish the post…oops!)

First day of our homeschool year. Cute idea for an organized school day.
Snowflake is now a 4th grader! and Pumpkin is in Pre-K! They are quite excited! They are pictured above after our morning trip to the Library with a quick stop at Office Max where Pumpkin found a new pencil case. She loves her cute little puppy  with the pink bow! Now she has a pencil case just like Snowflake! Both are dressed up.

Very sweet.First day of our homeschool year. Cute idea for an organized school day. Here is a safer nail polish (affiliate link) that we use. It is missing a few of the really bad chemicals in most nail polish and it comes in some fun colors. I still think it isn’t totally natural, but at least it is a little better and since they are going to want to paint their nails(me too) I might as well get the better stuff.I also thought I would take a picture of our new circle/subject boards that I had posted about in the past. Cute New Digital Craft. A couple friends weren’t sure exactly how I used those, so I thought a picture might help it make sense.

As you can see, I take the sheets and circles that I made. Each day, I lay out the circles/subjects that we are doing. Both the laminated sheets and the circles have Velcro on them. The kids get to choose the order in which they want to work by putting their circles up on the laminated sheet. Once they are done with that subject, they take down that circle. When they pull that subject circle down, they see another circle on the laminated sheet that says DONE! and has a picture of a princess or strawberry shortcake character (depending on who’s board it is.) They are then ready to move on to the next subject. It is kind of like the workbox system, but modified for our preferences and space. Hope that helps you understand how we use those.

Join me on Facebook to see even more ideas. Enjoy you day!

PS: For the purposes of this public blog, I won’t be using my kids actual names or our location. For people who know us, my oldest daughter will be called snowflake and my youngest will be called pumpkin. Just keeping everyone safe in this modern world!

More to Enjoy! 😍

Ahh so clever — I’ve been using their first initials.

Does that nail polish work well? The only “safe” kind I have peels off after a few hours!

Yay! Donna, you are my first comment!! Thanks! So, do you have a blog? If your willing to share, send me your blog’s web address.
Yes, the nail polish works well for us. I wear it and it lasts well. Of course the girls are a bit harder on nail polish than I am, but it still lasts them a bit. I don’t recommend their nail polish remover though. I didn’t feel like it worked. You can find the polish locally at Whole Foods or if you order on Amazon, click through my link and I earn $ off the sale!

LOL My daughter had her nails done for her first day of school too.

Your subject board is neat. Popping in from the wrap-up.

LOVE those circles, work box systems won’t work for us due to lack of space and babies, and toddlers getting them. We have been just writing lists on the white board and they check them off when done. Your idea seems much more fun I will have to work on that this week.

Glad you like them Mama Bird! I used my scrapbook software to make them. They are one of my few original ideas. I usually borrow ideas…so I am kind of proud of them. If you have trouble making them on your own, let me know and I can make them for you(in most any color or theme) for the cost of supplies plus a small fee.

I like the circle system!! Sounds simple and easy to make…. I might actually use them for kitchen chore duties;) I’ve been trying to think of a plan… but that might work for us;)

Thanks Kelly! I need to come up with a price for those so if people don’t want to make them, I would know what to charge for them. They seem to be a hit!
