My 13th Stitch Fix ~ Stitch Fix Review

I have another Stitch Fix Review for you today.

I decided to share another Stitch Fix box with you because I love seeing what other people are getting in their Stich Fixes and I thought you might like it as well. If you missed my first post I shared about how it has been a busy mom’s simple fashion fix for me.

Now, if you are a superstitious person, you might be concerned about the fact that this was my 13th fix. I wasn’t. I should have been. This is going to go down as the fix that made me feel fat and ugly. Great combo right? Does that mean I don’t like Stitch Fix anymore….absolutely not. Keep reading and I’ll fill you in on why I still think Stitch Fix is a good fit (pun intended) for me.

I’ve been working on losing a little bit of weight. I want to get back to my goal weight from when I lost 40 lbs about 5 years ago. I was up about 15 pounds. I’ve lost about 6 pounds. So what does anybody want when trying on clothes when they have worked hard to lose 6 pounds? They want the clothes to fit well and look great. That did not happen with this box. At all. In fact the clothes in this box fit me worse than the clothes in the same size they sent me when I weighed 6 pounds more. Can someone tell me how that is possible? It was downright depressing.

Before we move on…for those of you who don’t know, Stitch Fix is a personal shopping service. You go to their site and fill out a survey of your fashion likes and dislikes along with all your sizing information and preferences in terms of sending jewelry, bags, and how adventurous you want to be with your fixes. Then they send you a box with 5 items in it. You can have a fix sent every 2-3 weeks, every 4 weeks or every 2 months.

When the box is sent you are charged a $20 styling fee. The box arrives, you try on your items at your convenience (within 3 days). Keep what you like and send back what you don’t. The $20 styling fee is deducted from the price of whatever items you keep. So as long as you keep one item from your box, you really have  no risk in giving Stitch Fix a try.

For someone like me who really doesn’t like shopping or someone who is busy, this is a fantastic option to still have new and cute clothing that fits your style.

So let’s look at what was in my box this month.

First up, I got this cute Papermoon Kualo Bow Back Knit Top. I love the bow and I have slowly learned that I have a thing for stripes. I thought this shirt was going to be a slam dunk in the keep category.

I also was sent Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jeans in Navy. I was excited to try the shirt and the jeans together.

Can you see the flaw in the shirt? Right at the collar. See how they sewed the stripes together but it left that funky pattern at the top. I tried to not notice it and convince myself it would be fine, but it bugged me. I feel like I sound so picky. 🙁

Ummm… the jeans just barely fit and I’m being super generous showing you them because they were tight. Really tight. Too tight.

Stitch Fix and I have not had very good luck with getting pants that fit me. They haven’t sent the correct size in the last I don’t know how many fixes. I know I have round butt (or junk in my trunk…lol) and a smaller waist. I know that can make things a little more challenging to fit me correctly. I always have trouble getting pants that fit. I guess I just thought that after 12 fixes, they would have my sizing down. Maybe that isn’t realistic. What do you think?

Yeah…this is what I mean by being really generous. I’m even showing you the back. The pants are way too tight, but I wanted to show you the cute bow detail on the shirt.

My stylist sent me this cardigan. I love cardigans.

Once again this cardigan was too small. Uugh…but I have lost weight since the last box.

My stylist recommended this cardigan with this shirt and the following shirt. It just isn’t something I would wear together. I would wear a cardigan with a pattern with a solid color shirt and a striped shirt with a solid color cardigan. This just isn’t a look that I personally like.

My favorite item from this box. These are Zad Loni Hammered Leaf Drop Earrings. I LOVE them! They are so fun.

They look great on and go with the bangle that was in another earlier fix. Perfect and they fit! lol!

When I first saw this shirt, I thought I was going to like it, but I wasn’t sure if it would be too busy for my taste. This is the Sweet Rain Isaac Floral Print Tab-Sleve Blouse.

Part of why I also wanted to share my fixes with you is that photographing myself in the items gives me some perspective. It helps me see what really looks good and what doesn’t.

I actually really like this shirt on me. This is also when my daughter requested that I turn on Meghan Trainor(affiliate link). I started having fun photographing these clothes that didn’t fit well. Instead of feeling fat and ugly.

Dancing to Meghan Trainor…I love her music! The point of this pic is that unfortunately this shirt was too small. Because of the pattern, it is a little hard to see, but it was tight on my upper arms as well as pulled across my chest. 

Oh well… I can still  have some fun!

Now…remember this blog is called The Real Thing with the Coake Family and I’m sure you’ve noticed, I’ve kept it real in this post. So…do I still love Stitch Fix? I have to say Yes and No. Now I know this isn’t the most positive post for Stitch Fix and yet I haven’t broken up with them yet.

Yes, I’m frustrated that after 13 fixes, they still don’t have my style or my sizing totally correct. I read another post on how to get the best fixes possible and I’ve been working on pinning things to my Pinterest board that I really love and could see myself wearing. I’ve also been leaving very specific notes about what I like about what I’ve pinned. I’m hoping it will help the fixes get better.

BUT all of that said, I still plan to continue with them. I have liked at least one item from every box. I figure if they want to continue sending me boxes that aren’t quite all there, that is their risk not mine. It has kept a steady stream of new items in my wardrobe. That has never been the case for me. I tend to shop 1 or two times per year on my own. Buy a whole bunch of new stuff and then not shop again for a long time. It has been really fun to look forward to my box and come away with a new item or two.

Of course, I totally want to get a box that has all 5 items that I LOVE. When that happens, I get a 20% discount on everything in the box. Oh…lovely! I still have faith it will happen.
