Homemade Birthday Card

Quite some time ago now, I made Mother’s Day presents for my Mom and my Mother-In-Law. I gave my Mom hers while she was visiting us. It was closer to her birthday, so I gave her a birthday card with her gift. I am finally getting around to showing you the homemade birthday card I made for her.
Homemade Birthday Card
It was a super quick and easy card to put together. I’ve got a tutorial to show you how to make your own pretty (and easy) homemade birthday card.

Supplies
  • 1 – 6.5 x 5″ card base and envelope
  • 2 – paper rectangles measuring 6.25″ x 4.75″
  • 2 – paper rectangles measuring 3.75″ x 3.125″
  • Embellishments to compliment your card and paper
  • Adhesive
Homemade Birthday Card
Take one of your 6.25″ x 4.75″ rectangles and adhere it to the front of your card base.
Homemade Birthday Card
Take one of your 3.75″ x 3.125″ rectangles, add your embellishments to the rectangle before you adhere it to the card. In my case, I was adding the flower using a brad. By adding it before adhering it the brad goes only through this rectangle and not all the way through the card where it would show on the inside.
I ran my rectangle through my Cuttlebugto add some additional texture to the paper. I think the Cuttlebug is a lot of fun and I love the texture on the paper. For this card, I used the Bit of Paisley embossing set. It has an embossing folder and a border.
The front of your card is already complete! Woot, woot for easy projects!
Homemade Birthday Card
For the inside of your card, run your other 6.25″ x 4.75″ rectangle through the Cuttlebug to add texture. If you don’t have a Cuttlebug, you can easily find texture paper in the scrapbook section of most any craft store. Adhere this rectangle to the card base.
Use the final 3.75″ x 3.125″ rectangle with whatever sentiment you want for this card. In my case, I used a Happy Birthday stampI found at Michaels. I used my watercolor pencils to add a little touch of additional color to the sentiment. Adhere this on top of the 6.25″ rectangle.
Homemade Birthday Card
Voila! Beautiful homemade birthday card in just a few minutes. As you can see above, I matched the card to the Mother’s Day gift that I made for my mom. (In that link, I have a tutorial on how to make that as well, if you are interested.)
I love making cards. I feel like it gives a much more personal touch. I also really love it when they come together quickly and easily. It is the best of both worlds to me.
Do you make homemade cards? Or do you prefer to buy your cards?

More to Enjoy! 😍
