Oh my goodness you guys! Can you believe that graduation season is coming up? This school year has flown by. I know that many of you will have someone in your family graduating. I wanted to show you some quick, easy and cute graduation party ideas I came up with and used last year.
My oldest daughter, Snowflake, graduated from 5th grade last year. Where we live Jr. High or Middle School begins in 6th grade. Even though we homeschool, I still like to acknowledge milestones like these so my girls don’t feel left out. We picked a time when my parents were going to be in town and set a date for our graduation.
As seems to happen, things got busy and I didn’t really get much pulled together for Snowflake’s graduation until the last-minute. Even though I lacked in the planning skills, I didn’t want her to feel like I hadn’t thought about her and hadn’t done much to make her event special. I came up with some last-minute (i.e., quick and easy) ideas that we thought were so cute. I know lack of time is not uncommon, so I’m sharing my ideas with you in case you need some quick, easy and still cute graduation party ideas.
First up, start with a quick trip to the party supply store. They will have tons of simple items you can buy to add to the decor. They may not be as cute as something you can make, but they sure do save a lot of time.
To make the graduate feel special and thought of, put out a few of her/his favorite foods. Snowflake loves popcorn and grapes, so in addition to our pizza dinner, we had these snacks out for everyone to munch on.
Add some fun sweet treats. I added a free printable that I found to the top of the cupcakes. It just makes it look a bit more special and clearly lets everyone know why we are there.
To find a printable like this, just do a Google search for 2014 free graduation printables. I’m sure that plenty will pop up for you. I got my free graduation printable on a site called Ivory Bloom. It included the squares I used in the cupcakes as well as few other goodies I used.
Make sure to print your printable on card stock for more durability. I added the squares to the cupcakes by taping them to toothpicks and placing them into the cupcakes. Nothing fancy here, just quick ideas that made the party cute.
I found this ideas somewhere on Pinterest and couldn’t find it again (a year later) to give attribution. These are meant to look like the diplomas all rolled up. They are the Swiss Rolls you can buy at the store with some baker’s twine tied around them. I bought my big rolls at Pick Your Plum (affiliate link) for quite the good deal!
Again, nothing fancy here, but it is so cute and a perfect touch for a graduation party.
My favorite part of our party (other than the Swiss Roll diplomas) were the drinks. I used mason jars with cupcake liners for the lids. I added a little more baker’s twine and the little flags that came in the free printable I found. The final touch was the paper straws.
I didn’t have quite enough paper straws(affiliate link) for everyone, but it didn’t matter. I just added baker’s twine with a few of the squares and flags at the end for these glasses. Aren’t they so stinking cute!
Congrats to you (for making it through the process with your graduate) and your graduate! I hope you enjoy this graduation season and enjoy these simple, quick, easy and cute ways to celebrate your graduate!
What other ideas do you have for a simple and quick graduation party? I’d love to hear and share with my readers.
