I’m back today with another in my series of the gifts I’ve made for our family. Today I want to show you how I decorated the Gift in a Jar to give it a bit more of a holiday gift feel. I’ve got a Gift Tag Printable for you so you can make your own.

Once again, if you are immediate family, please check the mail. Your gift is on its way to you. See it in person first, please! For the rest of you, just in case you missed it, the actual recipe of what goes in these jars is in my post: Gift in a Jar {Homemade Christmas Gifts}. The jars are dry ingredients to make Christmas Candy Brownies…yummy!

Gift in a Jar {Gift Tag Printable}

As I mentioned in Gift in a Jar {Homemade Christmas Gifts}, some of our family celebrate Christmas while others celebrate Hanukkah. I wanted one gift I could make for everyone. I modified the candy in the brownie mix by using red and green M&M’s for the Christmas version. I used blue & white M&M’s for the Hanukkah version.

As you can see, I added fabric to the top of the jars. I cut the fabric in 5.5″ squares in various holiday fabrics. I then added the tags to the jar using pom poms…don’t they look cute?! The tags are decorative on the front with the directions for the recipient on the back. I have them toward the bottom of the post in a downloadable format for you. πŸ™‚ Happy Holidays!

Gift in a Jar {Gift Tag Printable}
The cute jars make very yummy brownies that look fantastic in the Glass Etched Pans I made for everyone!

If you are a regular follower, you know how I love a tutorial! I always want to show you how I did what I did. Since it took a little bit of figuring, you can see above, how I made the pom pom with the tag attached for each jar.

In step #2, if you are using two different colors of yarn, trim the opposing color yarn really short or near the knot after you have pulled it through. You won’t be able to see the opposing color yarn that way.

In step #4, after you have threaded your pom pom onto the yarn, remove your needle and add a knot at the opposite end of the yarn from where your first knot and pom pom are located. Then slide the pom pom back toward the knot you just made so that you have one pom pom located at each end of the yarn.

To tie the yarn tag, wrap it around the jar lid. Tie half of your knot. Slide your tag up and finish your knot, holding your tag in place.

Finish your yarn tag with a bow. Doesn’t it look cute?! I love the way the jars turned out.

Gift in a Jar {Gift Tag Printable}
Looks like a yummy holiday gift to me!

Next week, I’ll be back with another part of this series. I’ll be showing you the wrapping for the Glass Etched pans that are a part of this gift for our family. More Holiday cuteness on the way! Yay, can’t wait.

More to Enjoy! 😍

      Thanks so much! This was my first time to make a mason jar gift, but I really liked it. Think I would like to make them again in the feature.
