Simple and cute 4th of July centerpiece. #4thofJuly #Centerpiece #RealCoake

I recently was reading a blog post which inspired me to make a 4th of July centerpiece.
Kelly at Live, Laugh, Rowe made these adorable Patriotic Paper Flowers. She gives a great tutorial, so I won’t rehash that here. Click on over using the link above to read her tutorial.
These are her gorgeous flowers and my inspiration!

I found some red, white and blue scrapbook paper and off I went to try making paper flowers. As usual, I found the cute little buckets at the dollar spot at Target. I already had the chenille stems, candles, and decorative gems on hand. The paper flowers look so impressive to me, I thought they might be hard to make, but they were actually really easy.

My supplies. I thought I was going to use the cute red and white ribbon, but didn’t end up using it.

I used my Creative Memories Custom Cutting System Circles to cut out all my circles. Made it easy peasy!

In her tutorial, Kelly, mentions that you can use floral wire, pencils, dowel rods, pretty much whatever you have on hand to make the flowers. I had chenille stems on hand. I decided to give them a try rather than buy something else. They work just fine. If you are using chenille stems and you are putting them in a bucket using decorative gems, I have 1 tip for you.

#1 above, I found it easiest to arrange the flowers in the bucket with the gems only about 2/3 of the way filled. Otherwise, when I tried to arrange them with the gems full, the stems tended to bend and not go where I wanted them to go. With the gems about 2/3rds full, once I had the flowers where I wanted them, I carefully added the remaining gems as you can see in picture #2 above.

Such a bright, cheery centerpiece….just makes me happy to look at it! Thanks so much Kelly for the inspiration!

Cheery flowers in fun colors sure brighten up my table!

They even look cute and festive at night with the candles lit. Just make sure that your paper flowers are well out of the way of your candles. It would really dampen the 4th of July to have things catch on fire.

Happy 4th of July! Enjoy your holiday!

@Kelley Yeah, I think even a year ago, I couldn’t have done this. Mine are 10 and 5 now, so I can get away with more. My kids have also learned not to touch the centerpiece within an inch of their life…lol! Thanks so much for the comments and the feature!
