I have another post I have waited for a year to share with you. I’m excited to share with you our super fun Family New Year’s Eve. Since my girls are getting older, I wanted to make New Year’s Eve fun for them as well as for us grown ups. Let me show you our celebration and give you a printable to make your own family New Year’s Eve fun.

Fun idea for a Family New Year's Eve celebration that whole family will enjoy! #NewYear's #Family #Celebrate

Our New Year’s Eve celebrations started with an idea I found at The Dating Divas ~ Family New Year’s. I started by making a paper bag with a clock for each hour we planned to celebrate. We chose 5pm to 10pm.

After making the bags, I took a little trip to the party supply store. I spent $10 to $15 on a few things with which to fill the bags as well as the hats and glasses. Inside each bag, I placed a scroll with a clue to our activity for that hour as well as some type of little trinket for the girls. The night went so fast and we had so much fun! We can’t wait to have our family New Year’s Eve celebration again this year!

To give you some ideas, below is what we did for each hour as well as my clue.

5 p.m.
CLUE: It’s time to work on New Year’s resolutions!
WHAT WE DID: I found a simple printable which we each used to write a few things we wanted to try to do in the New Year. We also ate a bean dip and chip appetizer.
IN THE BAG: New Year’s printable

6 p.m.
CLUE: Your tummy says it’s time to eat!
WHAT WE DID: Ate dinner
IN THE BAG: Bead necklaces

7 p.m.
CLUE: Dancing in the dark…Ohh La La! (from this song that was popular last year) It’s time for flashlight limbo! Flashlight limbo directions.
WHAT WE DID: Listened to music and played flashlight limbo
IN THE BAG: Glow bracelets

8 p.m.
CLUE: Don’t get bored! Time to pick a board game and play, play, play! Don’t forget to make time for something sweet to eat!
WHAT WE DID: Played a board game and ate our dessert – chocolate eclairs!
IN THE BAG: Party blowers

9 p.m.
CLUE: Time for bed…just kidding. Just get ready for bed, then time for some wii family fun!
WHAT WE DID: Played wii games together
IN THE BAG: Noise makers

10 p.m.
CLUE: Happy New Year! Welcome 2012! Time to celebrate with a toast and fireworks!
WHAT WE DID: We watched a YouTube video of New Year’s being rung in other places in the world, had a toast of sparkling cider and/or lemonade and had some fun with pop-its, sparklers and some small fireworks (which are legal in our state).
IN THE BAG: Pop-its

We had so much fun ringing in 2012 as a family. We plan to do this same celebration again this year. I have heard that the kids didn’t really like the New Year’s resolutions, so I will be doing something different for the first bag. They loved the flashlight limbo and can’t wait to do that again.

If you would like to try our family New Year’s Eve celebration, I have a free printable for you.

Clocks – Page 1 Printable            Clocks – Page 2 Printable

Just click on both of the links above. You will need both pages in order to make the clocks for your bags. The 2 pages will be enough clocks for 3 hours or 3 bags. Each clock has 3 parts (the clock face and two colored circles to back the clock face). You only need to figure out your clues as well as what you plan to fill your bags with and your New Year’s family fun can begin!

I also have a simple and super easy craft you can make for your celebration ~ cute noise makers.
