Any Girl Scouts or Girl Scout leaders among us? You know our love of Girl Scouts if you have followed this blog for very long. We LOVE Girl Scouts and I love being a Daisy leader. Last year, the Daisy’s I led decided they wanted to complete the Daisy Flower Garden Journey. At the end of our journey, we planned a special celebration night.

I thought this would be a great time of year to share our celebration with you, both because I’m hoping for Spring and this looks very much like spring and because I know this time of year that leaders will be looking for ideas. I’m hoping I can help other leaders out.

Most of our Journey celebration was planned by the girls. I asked them if it was okay if I added a fun craft as well as some cute ideas. They liked that idea. That is where the craft I already showed you came from, Flower Power: Daisy Girl Scout Craft.

Our celebration was also our last meeting with just our level, we are in a large multi-level troop, for the school year. I wanted each girl to know that I really enjoyed having them be part of our Daisy troop this year. I started by buying some Daisy’s at Michael’s. I used my wire cutters to cut each Daisy into a single stem rather than the big bunches they came in.

I used my tag scrapbooking punch to make a tag for each flower. I added a sticker from the Girl Scouts Cupcake Fun pack I found on clearance at Michael’s and tied it with the baker’s twine I got from Pick Your Plum.

On the back of each  tag, I wrote a note to each girl. This is the one that I wrote for my daughter, Pumpkin.

The girls wanted to have their journey celebration be a tea party. They dressed up. I took my electric tea kettle to the school along with a couple of different herbal teas. If I remember correctly we also had lemonade.

The girls voted to have fruits and vegetables for their special snack. I told them I was bringing a surprise sweet for them. I made dirt cups for them to eat. You can google search for how to make them, but they are chocolate pudding and Oreos in a cup to look like dirt. They are a perfect fit for this journey.

I wrapped each flower in plastic wrap before placing it into the dirt cup. That way it kept the food clean and the flower clean and easy to take home.

We placed a dirt cup at each place on the table. They looked so cute!

As you can see, we had tablecloths as well. The girls voted that they wanted tablecloths and cloth napkins along with that big bowl of fresh fruit. They really did make some great healthy choices. The funny part was that most of them didn’t really like or eat much of their dirt cups. Yay! Maybe they learned a little something about eating a bit more healthy with our journey and our healthy snack choices!

All in all, it was a great night celebrating all the work the Daisy’s did to earn their journey and throughout the whole year. The girls planned and voted on the majority of what we did, which is the way it should be. Yet sometimes as leaders, we need an additional idea or two, I’m hoping this has helped a little bit.

What other ideas do you have for Journey celebrations or special Girl Scout nights? Do tell, you know we all want more ideas…let’s share!

This is darling. Bless you for being a daisy leader! I always wished my Mom would do the Girl Scout thing, but she did the cub scout thing instead. In our area there aren’t enough leaders to have very many troups.

I think your journey could work in a lot of different ways, not only for Girl Scouting.

Thank you so much!I think there is the same problem with Girl Scout troops here. That is what I love about our main leader. She loves Girl Scouts and wants to let any girl that wants to be a Girl Scout have that experience. That is why we have such a large troop. Of course it takes plenty of additional parent volunteers, but it always seems to work out.

I think you are right, the journey celebration could be used a lot of different ways. Thanks for stopping by!
