Girl Scout Activities – Multi-Level Troop Sports Night

Today, I have part one for you of the Girl Scout Activities I used for our Girl Sports Night. 

As you may know, I am a Girl Scout leader. My oldest daughter has been a Girl Scout for 6 years and this is my youngest daughter’s first year. It is my first year to be a leader. Back in August, our troop had a meeting for the leaders to plan the year, we realized that we would have a meeting on Valentine’s Day. There was some discussion as to if we wanted to have a Valentine party for the girls or do something else. It was decided that we would have a Girl Sports Night to hopefully run off some of the sugary energy they may have at the end of the day. I ended up volunteering to plan the event.

I’m going to show you the cute stuff I put together for our Girl Sports Night. I will have two other posts in which I will show you the way I organized for the event and the actual event.

Our troop is a large multi-level troop. That means we have about 60 girls in our troop. We represent all levels of Girl Scouts. Putting on an event like this takes a bit of planning and forethought as I wanted each level to earn a badge at the event (or for the older girls, to be well on their way to earning a badge)

As our Girl Sports Night was on Valentine’s Day, I also really wanted the Girl Scout Activities to be cute and hopefully, feel a little special and a little party like. Here is what I came up with:

First up, I made covers for the water bottles.

As you can see, I made them pink with hearts to go with the fact that it was Valentine’s Day. 

I added the Girl Scout Trefoil as well as other sports items around the label.

They were easy to add to each water bottle. Simply cut the labels out and use a small piece of clear packing tape on the back to adhere. My girls and I did this as a fairly quick afternoon project. If you have less than 60 girls…it really won’t take much time at all.

Next up, I wanted each girl to have a bag in which to carry her water, her goal heart (I’ll show you that next) and her pencil. I made a label to affix on each bag so we would know whose bag was whose. This label was stapled to the front of the bag. Another project my daughter’s helped me finish. (My volunteer to help with all these projects couldn’t make it. My girls really stepped up to help out! They rock!)

I used alternating white and red paper bags to go with the red, white and pink theme. Which of course goes with Valentine’s Day.

The last thing I made were these heart print outs for each girl. These were needed to accomplish two parts of the badge we were working to earn. One part is keeping score and the other is making and tracking a goal. I’ll give you more details on that in a later post.

To assemble the goal hearts with the arrow(pencil), I punched a hole in opposite corners. My hole punch was not quite big enough for a pencil to slip through. I had to go back and cut four slits in each hole to widen it. Then the pencil slid right through. If you have the chance, I would look for a slightly larger hole punch because it was kind of a pain to cut 4 slits in 120 holes…but then again, if you are doing this, you probably don’t have 60 girls in your troop, so it won’t be that big of a deal. 

Altogether, I think they turned out well and added to the fun and cuteness of the event.
