Have you been waiting and watching for my next Stitch Fix review? or am I the only one that stalks other blogs waiting for the next review? I’m hoping that I’m not the only one. I have all the pics and fun from my 14th Stitch Fix for you today.
If you missed my other Stitch Fix reviews, you can read those in my posts: A Busy Mom’s Simple Fashion Fix and Stitch Fix #13.
If you aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix, let me fill you in on the Stitch Fix service. Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. You sign up (affiliate links throughout this post) and fill out your style survey. You set the frequency of your fixes, once a month, every 2-3 weeks or every 2 months. You tell your stylist what your budget is and they accommodate that. When your fix is sent, you are charged $20. When you get your fix, there will be 5 items in the box which you will try on at your convenience. Within three days, you will need to check out. There is a prepaid envelope in your box in which to return anything you decide not to keep. At checkout, your $20 styling fee is deducted from the cost of whatever you purchase. If you purchase everything in your box, you receive a 25% discount.
Stitch fix is a great option for busy moms, busy professionals and anyone who doesn’t like to shop, like myself, among other people. I have been getting my fixes for about a year now. This is my 14th fix. I love that with Stitch Fix, I’m consistently adding something new to my wardrobe. Since I don’t like to shop, I tend to go buy a bunch of stuff and then not shop again for months. It has been fun to keep adding something new each month. Even if it is just one item, it is still fun. It also means I haven’t had to go shopping, which is a super big plus to me. Doesn’t mean I haven’t shopped a little here and there…mostly for shoes and bags, since I seem to be obsessed with them.
Want to see what was in my box this month?
I think my stylist has been watching my Real Fashion Pinterest board and has noticed that I might have a bag obsession. Truthfully, I didn’t realize how much I liked bags and shoes until I started pinning things deliberately to my Pinterest board. I started noticing a theme. I tend to like solid colors and stripes. I also have noticed how much I notice the shoes and bags in what I pin.
Isn’t it funny how I never really figured that out about myself, but between Pinterest and Stitch Fix, I’m learning more about myself. Things maybe others have figured out about themselves, but I don’t tend to pay enough attention. The more clear I can get about what I like, the more clear my stylist will be able to be with my fixes. Same goes for you. Start a Pinterest board for yourself and starting pinning things you like. I bet you will see a pattern and it will help you shop for yourself as well as if you are using Stitch Fix it will help your stylist.
Anyway, I’m going to a creative blog conference this week!! OMG! I’m so excited and totally nervous and intimidated. I will be around and meeting some of the bloggers whom I have been in love with for years….shhh…please don’t tell them. Can we just keep my obsession to us? I will get to hear a few of them speak and I get to hear David Tutera speak…OMG! There are two nights at the conference at which they have themed parties. One is a beach party and one is a garden party. Yeah…so I’m going to be with all these creative women and I want to look my best. I told Stitch Fix and they sent me items that just might work.
First up is this adorable clutch that would be perfect for both the garden party and the beach party. This is the Jayce Woven Fold Over Clutch. I really like it, but I’m sending it back. I had just gone clothes shopping for my growing girls and found a clutch very similar to this at JCPenney that was on sale for $25 and had cute flowers on it. So, unfortunately, I already found something like this.
For the garden party they sent this Skies are Blue Marietta Tie Neck Blouse along with the Jayce Woven Fold Over Clutch(which also works for the beach party).
They also send these Margaret M Emer Textured Tall Straight Leg Pants.
One of the things I’ve also learned watching what I’m pinning on Pinterest is that I like colored pants. They are fun to me, so I was really excited about these pants.
What do you think? Ready for a garden party? I’ve lost another two pounds since my last fix…good thing for these pants. 🙂
OK, so as a side note, I found these shoes on clearance at Target for only $5 or 6!!! I wear a size 11 shoe and I often have trouble finding shoes. I have never in my life bought a pair of shoes for $5-6…except cheap flip-flops for the pool. I had to get them. I’ve never found anything to wear with them. What do you think of them with this outfit? They are probably the highest heel I’ve ever worn and not the most comfortable things on the planet…but who cares…cuteness!
I’m not totally sure I love the top and while I love the pants and the clutch, I told you why I’m not keeping the clutch…the pants….
I believe I lack the confidence to wear these. I feel like they are too tight and I will be self conscious. Even though when I see them as photographed I don’t think they look as bad as I was perceiving them.
BTW – why exactly am I always showing you my butt in these posts? OK, please tell me I’m not the only one who checks out how the butt looks in things and worries about it?
So when I see these pics, I think I look good and ready for a night on the town, which is after all what the garden party is going to be. I just don’t know if I could actually pull it off. I also don’t think I would wear the blouse in my regular rotation. I’m pretty sure I’m going to send it all back.
I’ve learned that I lack confidence in my body and what I look like. I’m 5’9″ and a size 10. To me, I feel like this outfit would look perfect on a size 2, 4 or 6…not me at a size 10. I think in the end it would be best for me to go to the party in something that I’m comfortable and confident in even though I do think this looks decent. OMG…this post is sounding a bit like therapy isn’t it? lol!
For the beach party, they sent me this Renee C Jordie Abstract Print Maxi. My stylist gave me two ideas of shirts that had been in other fixes that I could wear with this. One of those shirts I couldn’t figure out what she meant (I think it may have been a shirt I sent back) the other shirt my husband shrunk when he “helped” with the laundry. It is now my daughter’s shirt because no one really wants to see my stretch marked tummy hanging out.
I couldn’t find anything in my closet that I thought went really well with the skirt, so I put on the shirt my bestie made for me with my Real Coake logo. I love how the skirt fit and felt on. The pattern is fun, but since it isn’t a favorite and I didn’t have anything in my closet that would immediately go with it, I decided to return it.
Lastly is the Mystree Merna Mixed Material Tank.
I love it! It looked good with the blue textured pants as well and I liked that it was longer so it covered more of my butt with the blue pants. Though when I photographed myself in the shirt I feel like it doesn’t look as flattering as I feel like it is in person.
Which bag should I use with it…this new mint colored one I picked up on sale?
Or my fun pink bow bag? Pretty sure I will be wearing this one day at the conference. I think I like the mint color bag better even though I love the pink bag. And those shoes are so stinkin’ comfortable, they are perfect for a day walking around a hotel to various conference rooms and such.
And now it is time to dance my way off into the sunset…I tend to get a bit silly when photographing myself. You should see some of the pics. For now, I’ll let you think I am dignified with this pic. 😉
Here is what I did with this fix… though I still haven’t checked out and I’m contemplating keeping the blouse and blue pants for the party…
- Jayce Woven Fold Over Clutch – $48 – Returned
- Skies are Blue Mariette Tie Neck Blouse – $48 – Returned
- Margaret M Emer Textured Tall Straight Let Pant – $98 – Returned
- Renee C Jordie Abstract Print Maxi – $58 – Returned
- Mystree Merna Mixed Material Tank – $48 – Kept
Follow my Real Fashion Pinterest board to see other fun fashion inspiration and pin any of the items you like from my fix to your own fashion board…that is why I photograph each one individually, just for you. 🙂
So what do you think I should have done with this fix?
I love the gray and white top!
Mint bag for sure!
Oh, and I likes the first top on you too, but maybe with different pants or a pair of Capri jeans.
I love people’s Stitch Fox reviews- I go through and read all the ones linked up by Stitch Fix and follow them on Pinterest but of course I can’t get their service myself as they don’t ship to New Zealand. however, it is always fun seeing what people get in their Fix!
Yay! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one stalking other people’s reviews! That stinks that you can’t get their service. Is there anything like that in New Zealand? I think it would still be fun to see and it helps me learn what I like by looking at others fixes as well.
I thought you rocked the garden party outfit. Wish you had kept it! We are too hard on ourselves. As a size fourteen, I would have loved to look like that!
I got that same tank today in my fix!! LOVE IT!!!!!!
Reading through your past reviews. So appreciate you honesty about how you feel about yourself. We are about the same age and size. I think you are rocking it!
Oh…Thank you so much for leaving me a comment! It makes my day and I’m so glad to know you have enjoyed my Stitch Fix post as well as my honesty. I know it is something most women deal with and I like being real. It is always nice to put things out there and know that people actually appreciate it…so again, thank you for leaving a comment. Oh…and thanks for boosting my confidence by saying I’m rocking it! 🙂
