Did you know that Mother’s Day is only a few weeks away? If you’re like me, it is time to start thinking about what you want to do for your Mom. Today, I’ve got a Mother’s Day Card tutorial for you to make a simple handmade card.Mother's Day Card
I’m so happy with how this card turned out. I made it for my Mother-in-law. It matches the gift I made for her, which you can see a peak of in the picture. Let me show you how I made this card.
Mother's Day Card {Tutorial}

Supplies

  • 1 – 6.5 x 5″ card base and envelope
  • 2 – paper rectangles measuring 6.25″ x 4.75″
  • 2 – paper rectangles measuring 3.75″ x 3.125″
  • Embellishments to compliment your card and paper
  • Adhesive
Mother's Day Card
I started with my patterned paper in the large sized rectangle. I adhered it to my card base.

Next, I used one of my small rectangles. I ran it through my Cuttlebug(affiliate link). I got my Cuttlebug for Christmas. It is so fun and easy to add texture to paper. I love it. For this card, I used the Wicker Weave(affiliate link) embossing folder. It is neat because it also has a border with it. Then, I added the fabric flowers to the rectangle and adhered it to the floral paper. You could easily make this same card and embellish it tons of different ways. So, don’t feel that you need to copy mine. Just use it as inspiration for your own ideas.

Do make sure if your embellishment needs to go through the paper, like mine, that you add that embellishment before you adhere the rectangle to the floral paper. In my case, that way the brad will not show through in the inside of the card. I made another one of these and forgot to do that. I had to rip up the paper and start over. Boo!
Mother's Day Card
I used my second large rectangle on the inside of the card. Once again, I used my Cuttlebug to easily add some texture and interest. If you don’t have a Cuttlebug, you can buy textured scrapbook paper at most any craft store.
Mother's Day Card
I didn’t feel like messing with my Cricut and couldn’t find a Mother’s Day embellishment in the cartridges I had on hand, so I used Word and printed out my sentiment. Then I cut the paper to the size rectangle I wanted.
Mother's Day Card
I had some of this adhesive lace ribbon on hand. I got it from Pick Your Plum. I have wanted to use it forever and thought this was a great way to use it and add some more interest to the inside of the card.

This card took me probably 15 minutes to put together. It took longer to take the pictures of it than it took to make. Yet, I don’t think it looks like a quickie thrown together card.
Mother's Day Card
I’m hoping my Mother-in-law really likes her card and the gift I made for her as well. Hope you found this Mother’s Day Card tutorial helpful. Let me know what other tutorials you’d like to see in the comments below!

This is fantastic! I just made a handmade card last week (which is something I rarely do because I’m not really a papercrafter) and I liked the way it turned out. This card you made is so beautiful that I think I may need to make another card. Thanks for the ideas. I need them. πŸ™‚

Thanks, Libby! I enjoy making cards, but I tend to keep things simple. I guess I just don’t have the brain that can think of the elaborate cards I see. Glad I could help you with ideas.
      Have fun!
