High Low Maxi Skirt Trend (for Less!)

I told you about Polyvore in a post last month. I enjoy watching Polyvore, seeing things I like and seeing trends. It is fun to me. The only thing I sometimes find frustrating is seeing the prices of the pretty, cute or trendy items I like. It is not uncommon to see a purse for $3,000 or a pair of shoes for $700. Ummm, I don’t know about you, but I don’t have that kind of money. So, I decided to watch for a trend and find a way to make the outfit for a lot less…hopefully something I could afford.

I have been watching and seeing a flirty trend I wanted to show you today.

Before I show you the trend, a little housekeeping. PLEASE, if you pin any of the ‘sets’ below, go to the original source (which is listed below the set) and pin from there. Only one of these sets is my own creation and I want to make sure the correct people get the credit for their pretty work. Thanks! Also, click on those source links to go to Polyvore. There you can see pricing and purchase any of the items. You can also give the set creators some love by ‘liking’ their set. You do this by clicking on the heart to the right of the set.

Have you see these super cute high low maxi skirts? I am such a sucker for skirts….I love them! Although I hardly ever wear them anymore as I am usually found sitting on the floor with my kids and skirts just don’t work for that life. I still love skirts. I love this current trend.

Maxi skirts are such great fashion for any season of the year. These are great high low skirts for less.

I just love the colors and the flowing fabric in the skirt of this set. So pretty. The shirt is $320, the purse $110 and the necklace is $325. I love this set and if I had the money and the place to wear it, it would be in my closet.

Once again, I love the carefree flowing look of the fabric in the high low maxi skirt. So pretty and I just have a feeling it feels flirty and girly to wear. Don’t you think? In this set the bag is $639, the shoes are $295

Once a again, I love the flowy fabric of the high low maxi skirt. This one is a little different in that only the sheer over the skirt features the high lowtrend not the actual skirt itself. The purse (it is Channel after all) is $3,290 and the shoes are $99. Everything else in this set, is actually fairly reasonable by my standards.

As I stated at the beginning, I wanted to make an entire set that was within reach for my budget. I created a set following this trend that is all from JCPenney and Target. I am not a huge jewelry or accessory person, so you will notice that my set doesn’t have tons of that. You could always add more.

Maxi skirts are such great fashion for any season of the year. These are great high low skirts for less.

If you were to purchase the dress, shoes, purse and accessories your total cost would be $136. While that is not cheap (at least to me) it is a ton less expensive than any of the outfits I love above. You could also easily use a pair of black shoes that you already have and save that $50. You could also add your own accessories and save there. I just love the turquoise color and thought it was fun to add a pop of color…plus I am a sucker for skirts and shoes. Since I wear a size 11, I often have to drool over shoes and wish I could find them in my size. Oh well….saves me a lot of money.

There you have it, my own little fashion report for you with a get it for yourself at more reasonable prices twist. Hope you enjoy it!

Mackenzie Rollins Your welcome! Yay, I bought one and wore it to a wedding rehearsal. It has big slits up the side. Was comfortable and felt kinda sexy too. Fun!

Thanks for sharing, I just got one at Target that is super cute! It’s so comfy that I wish I would have bought one sooner. Thank you for sharing on Saturday Show and Tell. I hope you’ll be back this week.

@[email protected] Thanks! JCPenney seems to work for my budget and while it isn’t all cute stuff, I can find my share of cute things. I have to admit that I never in my life had shopped there until the last year or two…I guess I’m a convert or maybe things have changed a lot. I’m not sure. Hopefully if you go you find some things you love!

Thanks for this post! I haven’t been to JC Penney in a while; but I need to stop in; they have stepped it up when it comes to the trends!

@Dara Thanks so much! I totally felt intimidated to put together my own outfit as well. (That is part of why it looks so simple in terms of background and such.) It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. The hardest part was finding the pieces I wanted to use. If you find the Polyvore feature of get the look for less, I would love to use it!

great job putting together an outfit! I haven’t tried that yet, it feels intimidating somehow! I thought polyvore actually had a feature where you can get the look for less, but I can’t find it! it’s great that you were able to do that yourself!

Kristine Toone Thanks! I was thinking about this and thought maybe the high low would work because it is higher in the front, showing off the legs. But I guess I don’t really have any idea since I am tall. So, I will totally trust your assessment! Have a great day!
