Normally I am quite the organized person, however the end of last year was just overwhelming. There is no way to sugar coat it. It got too busy and things pretty much spiraled out of control. I know my family did not appreciate my stress level and my snippiness. Being a very organized person by nature, it stresses me out when things get disorganized. I’m also a visual person, so when it gets cluttered and things get too busy, for me, it is like I can’t see through the forest to see the tree in front of me that needs to be dealt with. It gets overwhelming quickly. I wish that didn’t happen for me because I know so many people who can just see right where they need to go or what they need to do even in the chaos. I admire them.
I know that I need to take some time to get things back in order around my house. It will just help me feel better. I know not everyone is like this and I know that it is a constant battle to stay organized whether you are a naturally organized person or someone who struggles, especially when you have children in your house. You know what I mean, right? π
Today, I’ve put together over 20 great ways that both of us can work to get organized in 2015. A lot of them are ideas I’ve written about in the past. They are ideas that I need to go back to and touch up those areas or come up with a new fresh start because I didn’t keep up with them. The other half of these ideas are new inspiration for both of us. Some ways to add some new organization to your house and life.
Let’s not let being a bit more organized in 2015 be a stressor, but rather lets work to just do a few minutes on a project each week. Progress will be made and we will enjoy that progress. Sounds great to me! I tend to go all in or not at all…which would be why my laundry room is a big fat mess. If I just work 10 minutes a week, I will get it done and it won’t continue to be on my list and adding stress to me every time I do laundry.
Anyway…enough rambling. Here are over 20 great ideas for both of us!

That washi tape calendar is genius!
Oh dear, you sussed me! I LOVE organisation tools. I LOVE storage, baskets. boxes, systems, you name it – I have read about it, watched the video, bought the boxes…heck yes I’ve even got in there and CLEARED UP! but, there’s the rub, I just can’t maintain this pristine condition.
If you ever read my blog, I frequently bemoan the state of my sewing room, and the condition of ‘piles’ which holds sway in our cottage. It stresses me, but so much sometimes I am overwhelmed by the situation and so do nothing about it.
HOWEVER! my one resolution for this year is to decluttere – in a non-stressful way of course. So your post is very timely. Thankyou, some great ideas here.
OH! My SECOND resolution? Not to write such rambling comments!
Cheerio, from the Other Side of The Pond!
Lynne.
Glad you liked the ideas! Hope you are able to use a few of them. I know I have managed to use a few and feel much better and more organized heading into this year. Love it!
There are SO many great ideas here – thank you SO much for including my washi tape calendar!!
You’re welcome! I LOVE your calendar…so fun and it makes it easy to see when you have things coming up.
Thanks so much for including my projects in your awesome post!
You are welcome. I LOVE the way you organized sprinkles! I wish I had the counter space for it…would be fun to see each day. π
I only read your opening lines and just stared at your words. You described me to a T! I have never seen anyone describe how I feel about this issue the way you did. We have been going through some things for a while now and I have to have the time to get my self and my home back in order…even if everybody else thinks it’s fine if it’s not fine to me I have to have time to get it to where I am OK with it or I can’t function normally and I will snap at my family! I do not like being this way either and I also admire people that aren’t bothered by it. Thanks for sharing!
Oh I’m so glad my feeling overwhelmed and disorganized could help validate your feelings. I know how hard it can be to feel like the odd woman out that others can just seem to roll with the chaos and we have a hard time with it. I hope you found an idea or two to help you in this great post.
I know I’ve been trying out a few of them that aren’t my posts and getting things more organized with my ideas that are in here as well. I’m about to organize my desk…can’t wait! It has been chaos and it makes working a bit challenging. Take care! Feel free to come back or come to my facebook page and vent any time you need to. Take care.
A cluttered mess makes me have anxiety. Neat and junk gotten rid of is very calming. Thanks for these tips and they are pretty too!
I’m glad you like the ideas and tips.I agree that organizing and getting rid of things makes me feel better. Glad to know I’m not the only one. π
i just found you through Pinterest, and after reading the first paragraph of this post I know I will be following you on your blog and Pinterest for sure. I think we would be best friends if we knew each other! I am usually organized, but have struggled the past two years since my little caboose was born two years ago. It has completely thrown everything out of whack, including my organized home/life! HA! Gotta love kids for keeping us on our toes! Anyways, I look forward to using some of these ideas. I just scanned through everything and almost wanted to cry (for joy) at some of the fun things you have done…and I love seeing clean organized areas (not my house right now)! I love your washi tape idea for organizing charging cords! I just wrote names on them with marker…your idea is 10 billion times better and cuter! Anyways, just wanted to say “hi” and let you know that you are not alone!
I’m so glad you took the time to leave me a comment! I hope you find tons of things you love on my site. I love organizing and finding great ideas that are both mine and other people’s. The washi tape idea is not actually mine, I just link to another blogger who had that fab idea. I’ve used it myself though and I LOVE it! I’m so glad to have you on board with following my blog.
