Do you love fall? I sure love fall. I love that the humidity is gone and there is that cool crispness in the air. I love that it finally feels decent to go running again…yay! I also love all the fun fall decor. This year, I’ve taken you on my journey using apothecary jars as seasonal decor.
Today, I’ve got my latest ideas for seasonal decorating using apothecary jars. I can’t wait to show you what I came up with and give you a few tips and ideas.
First up, let me tell you that I made these apothecary jars myself. I saved a lot of money by making them over buying them. You can see my Apothecary Jars {Tutorial} if you are interested in making your own set of jars.
If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will most likely remember the glitterized apples I showed you how to make last week. I used them in my jars. I added popcorn kernels below the glitterized apples. They are perfect for fall decor and inexpensive to buy (at least at Trader Joe’s). I’ve seen so many gorgeous ideas using popcorn kernels in fall decor. If you want more ideas, I’m sure a quick look at Pinterest will turn up plenty of ideas for you.
I bought this burlap ribbonwith the intention of making bows with it. The bows wouldn’t work out right. I tried removing the wiring, cutting the ribbon in half and a few other ideas. Nothing looked right.

Nothing looked right.As I was pulling a middle thread out of the ribbon to cut it in half, it started curling up on me. I decided to wind the curled up burlap ribbon around the top of these jars rather than use a bow. It looks tons better than anything else I tried.
If you want to make your own topper like this, cut the length of wired ribbon you want. Pull the middle thread out of your wired burlap ribbon. As you are pulling the wire should bend and curl the ribbon up as you go. Gently wrap that around as your topper.
The glitterized apples and pears looks so sparkly in the jars. With the apples, popcorn kernels and burlap ribbons on top, the apothecary jars really have all the beautiful fall colors.
I found a bag of fall decor in the dollar spot at Target. I added the pumpkin and acorn (I think that is what it is), into two of the jars. They added additional color, interest and texture to the jars.
So what do you think of my bow solution? Great solution or clown collar? I think both…lol!
Yay! I finally have some fall touches around the house! I was a bit slow to get into the fall mood this year, but now that I have, hold on, I’ve got lots more ideas coming your way.

I have a lot of decorations for fall and Halloween. Two or three big plastic tubs full. But this year with the renovation and living in the small space, everything I bring in here just looks cluttered. So I am leaving most of them put. Though I have brought my Halloween mugs down (a few) and maybe will hang a few orange lights outside closer to the 31st. I love those apples/fruit. Makes me look forward to my new space and decorating next year.
How close are you to being done with the renovation? I hope it is nearing its end for the sake of your sanity. I think not pulling things out this year seems like a very good idea. You can always start a Pinterest board of inspiration now for next year!
