Well, guess what? I get to show you my first mantel with my new made over fireplace! Yay! I’m really excited to show you my Easter/Spring mantel and I’m equally excited to show you the new fireplace (if you hadn’t already seen it).
If this mantel is any indication of how I’m going to like my fireplace makeover….I’m in love! I think it is a combo of the long, cold, grey winter and the new lighter fireplace with the bright cheery colors and the fact that the fireplace is now a neutral background on which the colors and things I place on the mantel really show and shine. Any which way, I love this spring/Easter mantel I put together. It is cheery and whimsical and we are all really enjoying it. Let me show you around a bit. I bet you can get an idea or two for your house as well.
I showed you my quick 5 minute egg garland the other day. It was the easiest garland to make. It also adds lots of glitter, color and fun to the mantel. I just love all the fun, cheery, spring colors.
I found the cute ‘spring time’ sign at Hobby Lobby and thought it would be a perfect addition to the mantel. I used the little tea light holders that I bought a year or two ago in the dollar spot at target. They needed a little height and such so I just placed them on some pedastal candlestick holders I picked up at IKEA a while ago. I’ve had the bunny (it is a candle) for a while and don’t remember where I got it. Don’t you just love how the tea light holders pop against the white of the brick now? LOVE!
To add some more eggs and fun to the mantel, I used a glass vase. The eggs would only fit in the vase laying on their side. I had envisioned a vase large enough to fit them in a ring round and have a few in each layer, but I didn’t want to buy a new vase. At the top of the vase, I placed eggs I got at AC Moore that were on a stick along with some Lily’s, which are always a sign of Easter and spring.
Do you remember the wine bottles I turned into vases? I’ve got the tutorial on making your own in that post. I decided to use them on my mantel. I added some gerber daisies (my favorite flower) and more Lilies. They just scream spring to me. 🙂
Just another picture of the cute tea lights that I really liked.
You may have noticed the ‘grass’ on the mantel. I love that it adds spring, color and whimsy to the mantel. I found a grass square at Hobby Lobby. I had orginally thought of using the square on the hearth of the fireplace, among the hurricane lamps. When I went to put the ‘grass’ there, the cat was going to eat the plastic grass. He likes to eat anything like that, which of course isn’t good for him and he then throws up. SO, I decided I had to use the grass elsewhere. I cut the square apart and placed it in various places on the mantel. I love it and think it adds such fun texture and interest.
I love the hurricane lamps I made over a while back. They are still on my fireplace hearth. To make them look more like spring, I added green burlap ribbon (affiliate link) I already head along with some cute glitter carrots I found. For the final touch, I added a butterfly and bird (they are on clips) that I used in my apotherary jars last year.
So there you have it, my spring/Easter mantel. I hope you enjoyed your tour. More than that, I hope it gave you and idea or two to use in your own home.
Do you decorate for spring/Easter? I don’t know about you, but we need to feel like it is springtime really badly this year. What do you like to do to make your house feel like spring? Do tell. Leave a comment below so we can share ideas.
More spring fun for you:
I love the Easter decorations! They’re so cheerful and bright. I think we have the same fireplace. I see you painted yours. I’ve been tempted for years but afraid of how it will come out and hearing from my husband “What the hell have you done” I’ll have to show him how nice your’s came out. Thanks for a great blog.
Hi KC, your Spring mantle is so pretty! It caught my eye over at the Show Me What Ya Got Party. I love the pretty colored tea light holders on the white candle sticks. Your Easter egg garland is adorable too!
P.S. Love the changes to your blog – very pretty!
Thank you! Both for the comments about the mantel and the blog. I love those tea lights on the white candle sticks as well. They are a fun bit of color. Have a great night.
Love the Spring/Easter Decor. The lanterns really caught my eye! Thanks for sharing. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Thanks! Those lanterns were a fun makeover!
So bright and cheery! I love all the little added touches and details. Just perfect. Thanks for linking up at Sunday Soiree!
Thank you! It was fun to create something bright and cheery after this dreary winter. 🙂
I like the idea of placing those colored glass candle holders on the pedastal candle stick holders because it gives it a lot of presence! I’m also a sucker for adding anything to a hurricane-type of vase.
Thanks so much! They sure do give them colored glass candle holders more presence. I’m loving my hurricane lamps. They were a makeover from a clearance find a Target. Fun stuff! Do you decorate for Easter? What do you do?
