Are you ready for Father’s Day? It is just around the corner. This year I am getting things ready a bit early, at least compared to when I usually get things pulled together. That way I can show you and give you an idea or two for your Father’s Day. Today, I’ve got a tutorial for a simple Father’s Day Card for you.
Let me show you how to make this quick and simple card.
Supplies needed:
- Card Base
- 1 rectangle (for front of card) – 6″ x 4.5″
- 1 rectangle (for front of card) – 5.5″ x 3.75″
- 1 rectangle (for front of card) – 5″ x 3.25″
- Hammer embellishment
- Sentiment printed and cut out for front (mine measured 4 3/8″ x .5″)
- Foam squares
- Sentiment printed and cut out for inside (mine measured 5″ x 2.25″)
- Twine
- Adhesive
Use the 3 rectangles listed in the supplies for the front of the card. Layer them one on top of the other. Use your adhesive to adhere them to the card and each other.
Adhere your hammer embellishment using foam squares to give it some height and dimension. Adhere the “Hope You Day is a ‘Hit'” Sentiment to the front of the card.
I cut my hammer on my Cricut from the This & That Creative Memories cartridge (<—this is an affiliate link. If you click through and purchase something, I am paid a small referral fee. Thank you for supporting my blog). If you don’t have a hammer in your cartridges or don’t have a cutting machine, I think you should be able to find a hammer embellishment in the scrapbooking section of a craft store.
See how those foam squares add some dimension and additional interest to the card?
Use a small piece of twine on the bottom of the sentiment for the inside of the card. Adhere the twine to the back of the sentiment.
I got my twine from Pick Your Plum (<—this is an affiliate link. If you click through and purchase something, I am paid a small referral fee. Thank you for supporting my blog). If you watch for a day they have twine, their deal even with shipping is fantastic especially for the amount you get!
Place adhesive on the back of your sentiment, going over the twine again which will make it very secure. Adhere the sentiment to the inside of the card.
Your Father’s Day card is done! Easy peasy, cute and handmade just for the Father’s in your life.
If you would like to see another handmade Father’s Day card idea, I made another card last year. Father’s Day Handmade Card {Tutorial}, just click that link to see another idea.
Hopefully, I’ve been able to help you get ready or at least get an idea for Father’s Day. What plans do you have for Father’s Day? Any yet?
Love this Father’s Day card. Great sentiment and love the cork hammer with it.
Thank you! It took me a while to come up with the sentiment. I thought of lots of dorky ones first. The hammer is actually just cardstock.
Take care,
KC
Pinned to my Father’s Day board!
Pretty please share this on a link party that I host with 4 other blogs called Moonlight & Mason Jars (live Monday at 5pm EST thru Sunday at midnight). We feature 5 blogs who link up every week.

I love the look of this KC. Now if you could figure out a cute 3D business card. Or get your business cards printed and have one little pop out? This hammer card is so very cute. I might give it a try with my 9 yo as a happy Father’s Day/birthday card for my FIL whose birthday is June 17.
Thank you! I’m sure I could start a business, but then it would take the fun out of it for me. Plus I don’t have anymore free time…wish I did, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t start a business with my free time. Hope it is fun if you give it a try.
Take care,
KC
I love how simple this is and how the hammer pops off the page! Adds so much character – thanks for linking up KC!
Thanks, Ruth!
