As I’m sure you are aware, Easter is coming quickly. I like trying to find something fun and new to add to our celebrations. Easter is no different. This year, I think we are going to have brunch and an egg hunt with some friends. I thought it would be fun to come up a new drink and maybe something else to add this year. Today, I’m sharing my recipe for a Strawberry Lemon Sangria. So yummy!!!It is so fun to find new, yummy drink recipes! This Strawberry Lemon Sangria is actually a cross between a Mimosa and a Sangria and is perfect for Easter, brunch or any day.

I am totally not a drink aficionado …at all! Yet, I love creating new things and letting my creativity go and seeing what happens, so when Gloria Ferrer offered to sponsor another post(remember that yummy Pink Delight Cocktail?) and send me a couple more bottles of wine to come up with a spring drink or drink pairing, I said and quick and easy, “Yes!” It is pretty much always a yes to free wine, but especially when it is a company like Gloria Ferrer who has earned over 400 gold medals and 50 90+ scores in the last 5 years. It is good stuff!

Next, I did some research. To point out the obvious, Easter is in spring. I also knew that Gloria Ferrer was going to send me a bottle of Chardonnay and a bottle of Pinot Noir.

I had in my mind to do something with the Chardonnay and I wanted it to be perfect for spring and for an Easter brunch.

So for those of you who are like me and are not drink aficionados, a Sangria is traditionally done with red wine and fruit. I also really wanted something more like a Mimosa because those are so associated with brunch and breakfast. Mimosa’s pretty much always have Champagne in them.

What I created is more of a cross of the two things, but I decided to call it a Sangria because fruit in wine is so associated with Sangria. Also, because a Mimgria or a Sanmosa didn’t seem to sound all that great. lol! Maybe I should have called it one of those things and invented a whole new drink category. 🙂

In my research to create a new drink, I also learned that lemon and strawberries are a few of the fruits that pair well with Chardonnay. Knowing that they are usually readily available in spring and that I love both of those flavors, I decided they would go in my drink.

The last piece of the puzzle was to come up with some other drink or flavor to add to this drink. Pumpkin, my youngest daughter, was with me at the store while I was trying to figure out this last piece of the puzzle. She noticed some natural Sparkling Lemonade and Sparkling French Berry Lemonade and mentioned them to me. She was hoping they would be the perfect addition to the drink because she wanted to try them. I bought them and gave them a try. They were perfect! Thanks, Pumpkin!

The other side benefit is that I could easily make a mocktail for the kids. They love feeling included and it is so easy to do with this drink.

At my house, I am the only one who drinks, so I am usually making an individual drink for me versus a pitcher to share (in the case of Sangria). This Sangria will work either way.

Start by layering your strawberries in the bottom. They should be cleaned, hulled and quartered. I used about 2 per glass.

Next add your lemon slices. They should be thinly sliced and quartered as well. I used about 2-3 slices per glass.

Add 2 oz. of either Sparkling Lemonade or Sparkling French Berry Lemonade.

Finally, add 4 oz. of Gloria Ferrer Chardonnay. The Gloria Ferrer Chardonnay is aged for nine months in French Oak Barrels. It makes a delcious and complex wine. Yum!

Oh My Yumminess! This drink is so delicious. I think it will be perfect for our Easter brunch.

For the brunch, I will probably mix up a pitcher. I did all the math on those calculations to convert the ml to ounces, etc., so that should convert to a 1 part Sparkling drink and 2 parts Chardonnay. I’ve got that full recipe at the bottom of this post.

In the end, you have not only a yummy drink, but something that seems perfectly suited for spring, a brunch, and Easter. It also seems like the perfect drink for a girls day, a spa day, or a bridal shower. Or is that just me?

The drink pictured above is with the Sparkling Lemonade and the Chardonnay.

It has a fun pink look when you add the Sparkling French Berry Lemonade with the Chardonnay and fruit.

Either way, it is delicious. I also love that the mocktail for the kids is simple. For those, I just added some cut up strawberries and lemon slices to the bottom of the glass and filled it with my girls choice of either the Sparkling Lemonade or the Sparkling French Berry Lemonade. They loved it!
