Earlier this week, I showed you my Paper Flower Birthday card {tutorial}. I promised to show you some additional paper flower cards I had made. I also said I would tell you how I mail my homemade cards.
First, here are a few of the other paper flower birthday cards I made. If you would like more information on how to put the cards together or how to make paper flowers view my earlier post here.
For these cards, I decided to only add one flower on each card.
You may be wondering how to mail specially made cards so they don’t get destroyed. I have these inserts that came with a card making kit I bought a few years ago. They are made from cardstock and printed to explain why the sheet is on top of the card. I put one of those on top of the card if it has any type of embellishment.
This way when the card goes through the machines at the post office it doesn’t rip through the envelope and destroy the card, which could easily happen on this card with the brad in the center of the flower.
I hope it helps cards such as these retain some of their fluffiness by the time they get to the recipient. I’m a little doubtful of that, but at least I know they get to the person I want them to get to and not in one of those little plastic post office body bags (have you ever gotten mail like that? When it is torn to pieces and they put the pieces in a plastic bag to get it to you…so sad!).
Well, because I love you all so much, I made you a pdf version of these sheets that you can download and print for you own cards! Happy day for you!
- Download your card protection insert here.
- Print them on 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock.
- Cut them into 4 pieces
- Insert them on top of any of your handmade cards that have parts or pieces that may not fare too well in the post office machinery.
Enjoy!
I am inviting you to come and share this in my Show Your Stuff blog hop:

Great post! The cards are really pretty too.

That is a good reminder for sending handmade cards with ‘pieces’ that stick up. (I found this post from the Tip Junkie link party.)
You are welcome!
Came over from Whimsy Wed. I make cards with raised embellishments. Thank you for the cute insert. I usually wrapped mine with tissue and pay extra postage for hand-stamping. It can get expensive. I once received a package in a body bag. It had somehow fallen into motor oil and was soaked. Lucky it was metal keys – no harm, no foul (except for the smell!)

The card is GREAT!!!! Love the idea of the sheet insert to protect it!
Thank you so very much for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer.. From Dream To Reality!
These look amazing! Thank you for posting on Saturday Show and Tell. I hope you’ll be back this week with more.
