Just in case any of you thought that maybe I had been cured of my decorative pillow addiction, I’ve got another pillow today. Yay! Pillows are so fun and so stinkin’ easy to make. They are such an easy way to add personality and an individual touch to a room.
About 2 years ago, I started re-doing my bedroom. I got a new duvet, cover, pillows, and curtains. I took down all of the artwork and was going to tackle my room next. Yep, if you have read my blog for a while you can probably guess where this is going, my room has pretty much been like that ever since. I got busy finishing the living room (which still has a few projects) and working in both of my girls’ rooms.
On our last trip to IKEA, I found the fabric that I had in my mind for these pillows. I love gingham almost as much as pom poms! So, when I was making the Dachshund pillows for Pumpkin’s room, I decided I was finally going to make the pillows for my room as well. I LOVE how they turned out and can’t wait to add some of these same touches to my curtains as well. Then I need to paint the room, etc., etc., Yeah, it will be a long time before my room is done. Lol!
I didn’t do a full tutorial for you on these pillows because they are almost exactly like the pillows I just did for Pumpkin. You can download full step-by-step directions in that post and just omit the part about painting the pillows.
These are just basic envelope pillows that are so simple to make. I just added the pom pom trim (affiliate link), which you have to add to the right side of the fabric and baste in place before you do the usual envelope pillow sewing.
I love sewing the pom poms so you can only see the pom poms. I know some people like sewing them where you can see some of the trim that the pom poms attach to, but I love this way. Cuteness!
I made two pillows. They are 20″ squares and are just simple and inexpensive feather pillow forms from IKEA.
I had fun photographing the pillows. I haven’t had my camera out much this summer, so I enjoyed some creative photography fun!
Pom poms do grow out of flowers, right? π
I love my new pillows and I’m so glad to finally have them on my bed. It is so nice to see gingham and pom poms every night instead of the blank pillow form staring at me reminding me that I haven’t done this project yet.
Please tell me I am not the only one with a million projects I want to do and multiple rooms that are being made over at the same time (that take years to complete).
